Without being too much of a picture background snoop… I see you are a connoisseur of cameras. That’s pretty sweet.
What I really started this reply for though was your opinion on your TBird in regards to neck dive. I see you still have the stock button near the neck. Have you added an additional one to try and address the neck dive or is it still stock?
Sort of, and thanks. I’m a former part-time pro, but I’ve always had a bit of a GAS issue with cameras - especially old ones. What you can see is a small selection of my vintage cameras that are for sale (to some degree or another) or are base materials for future lighting projects (one of the things I currently do for pocket money).
The Tbird neck has been discussed somewhere else in the forums (can’t remember where exactly) but I settled for a padded strap that didn’t slide, and that cured enough of the problem for my purposes - and then I bought the Peavey Millennium and I hardly notice the Tbird neck dive anymore. I didn’t want to go drilling holes in my gorgeous bass so I got used to playing with extra downward pressure from my right wrist or forearm. Actually I think I still do that sometimes with anything I play, so either it’s comfortable or it’s a bad habit that I’ve stopped noticing. I think I saw a new version of the model that has a button somewhere new.
It’s a gorgeous looking thing, it sounds great, and I found it easy to play - other than my dislike of round wound strings (the flats I bought specifically for it didn’t fit through the bridge).
I love my 504! The neck compared to my Ibanez is much thinner… my only complaint is the battery door is a bit loose and just one bump and it pops off and battery falls out. Need to contact Sweetwater music about it soon! But dont want to send it back to them…so maybe Ill just get a new battery door or door and sled that fits better.
Yeah it’s funny - I’m a big fan of red basses, all of my basses have been red in some way, but my actual favorite colors are midnight blue and purple, especially amethyst purple.
So those Combustions really tick all the boxes for me.
But not as much as the current model Ibanez SR2400-APL. The APL stands for, you guessed it, Amethyst Purple. This thing is just gorgeous.
Just remember. The gear is NOT the problem. You now have a responsibility to provide it more space. Like getting a bigger fish tank to accommodate getting more fish.
Well, I thought I was over GAS. A new Bass, a new amp and a new laptop I thought would be enough.
But NOOOOOO!
After reading the thread about practice headphones and the fact that I am going back out in the field for work, I decided I needed new headphones for my hotel room practicing. So I ordered the AKG K240 Studio headphones. That was Saturday afternoon. Saturday night I’m playing around with GarageBand listening to a couple of practice recordings and I realize how sh!tty the external speakers I am using with the new laptop are. I didn’t see any threads about studio monitor speakers here so I did my own research and ordered a pair of Edifier R1280T PoweredBookshelfSpeakers.
Reasonably priced with good reviews.
We need a few scientists to work on a GAS vaccine.
Seriously though, I heard that Sweetwater, Musician’s Friend, Reverb, and Guitar Center are all vigorously opposing any research on GAS and a corresponding vaccine for it . . .
Well, I broke the GAS, just got this, offered $30 and got it. It is like th B3n cut in a third sort of. It is a stomp box version of the Zoom B1-Four I stomp mode with a single slot. The idea here is it serves as a single pedal for some of the great things they have copied, like compressors, and amps and more: one YT video from Austraillia did a very extensive bass compressor review, and ranked this the best of the third category with the first catagory being the top dollar units like $400 and up, catagory 2 was $200 to $400 and catagory 3 was 0 t $200 AUD of course. But this was top because of th 3-4 options (all in the B1-four) and they are all good.
This has other capabilities (nothing more then the B1-4 or B3n) like drums, maybe a looper.
I like it cuz how it fits in the pedal chain.
Again, I said I wanted one of these since watching that YT video this past week, and it showed up at a great price (these cost more then theB1-four for some reason. Probably because of the more rugged construction.
just found this Ibanez Jet King Bass, near where I’m moving next week. the guy asks 135€ for it, which is pretty cheap. but I also have to purchase an amp …
Those are cool, I considered one a while back. Curious what you think about it. It’s actually a single stomp version of the older generation B1on/B3 not the B1four/B3n. The B1four and B3n are much newer and faster, with better effects and better bypass. So don’t expect it to equal your other Zoom.
That said, $30 is a good price for it for sure. I used to own a B1on from the same generation and it was what got me hooked on Zoom, super fun.
I just read more about it, you can still chain up to 4 effects. I will add a review to the Zoom thread when I get it, It is shipping from Colorado.
Yes, $30 is awesome, they are $119 on Amazon with a couple cables. I think $109 alone.
It was another incident where I just saw one reviewed, decided I wanted one, and within 2 days, it showed up on Offer Up. It keeps working out like that for me, And I am not gonna question it, just gonna take advantage of it.
However, when I purchased my first bass and amp set, I chose to go with an inexpensive bass and an expensive (over powered) amp… My reasoning… It would be easier to convince my wife that I needed a newer more upgraded bass,… but to try and convince her that I needed a larger more powerful amp… NO WAY…
Oh. and to get those better bass’s, all I needed to do was crank up that amp so that she could actually hear that in order for me to play better that I might need a better bass!!
