I have some new GAS on the way! Itās supposed to be delivered Friday! I hope itās not late, Iām getting a cornea transplant next Tuesday and wonāt be able to play for a week or so!
not sure this is exactly āgearā but i want this new book from radiohead bassist colin greenwood:
OK, seriously, this will need to be the last bass for a while. Iāve been GASsing hard for Sandbergs and came across this one at a great price. Itās a '22 California TT4 in Goldburst with a hardcore relic.
I understand the relic concept can be polarizing. Itās certainly not something I would ever pay extra for, but that wasnāt the case here. I kinda like not having to worry about scratching it, LOL. And if I ever sell it, from here until eternity it can justifiably be listed in āmintā condition.
Looking forward to this one showing up. I hate the waiting part.
Nice
Sweet!
Very nice.
Nice! Metal control plate too. The one I came across were 2 piece Pickguard. This is definitely awesome.
That is fabulous loookng!!
Congrats @fennario
So as you may remember I went for the Cort C5 as my next attempt at 5 string self-training, this is a recent pic in sunshine at my backyard:
Now I donāt really dig its sound (neither unplugged nor passive/active via NUX preamp and headset) so I decided to check some new strings. I use LaBella flats on my P and DR Nickel Lo-Riders on my J so wanted to test something, obviously (?) rounds and ended up with this, to be installed tomorrow:
Will report back if improvement observed or not
Those are usually on their V series. T should have the metal control plate
Thanks guys! Iām anxiously awaiting the arrival and will follow up once it gets here.
Thatās a nice looking bass @totyasrac! What strings are currently on there?
Yep. I kinda think of the T models as being more of a jazz bass and the V models being more like a P-bass. Not exactly right, as I think the necks are actually the same, and there are some humbucker configurations thrown in for good measure, but it works for my purposes.
@Whying_Dutchman thereās a 30" model called the Lionel by the way if youāre still entertaining short scale options.
I will entertain that notion until I die! Or go for playing the triangle if I loose my cool (= very likely).
But: I started with a plan to get a 250⬠bass and modify/improve it with about 400-500⬠components.
And then @swiens came and posted about the Reverend Dub King. I fell in love with the design and the sound from the YouTube videos.
Everybody says it sucks! And itās 1150ā¬.
Now I am thinking about the ugly ugly UGLY ibanez EHB1005SMS. Did I mention that it is really ugly?
The horror!
Also about 1150ā¬. For a really ugly bass!
This price creep needs to stopā¦
So I set a hard limit at 1200ā¬. Thatās it. Short scale. 1200ā¬. Two or more pickups.
Or a triangle!
What about doing your best maneskin impression?

Trying to think of the best way to say this, but aesthetic advice is coming from an Avocado Green/Antigua enjoyer
The future is green, my friend!
Donāt buy a bass that you find ugly ! even if itās an excellent instrument, it will not make you want to play when you see it. Thatās a bad idea in my opinion.
Not sure, probably the original/factory set whatever that is
