GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

I just read the Edda - to me Valhalla seems to be a very cool place. I hope that Odin is more relaxed about “dying on the battlefield” nowadays

And here I am sitting with a kitten on my lap!

LOL! Is it a dangerous kitten?

Her name is Heidrun she is named after the goat that brings mead to Valhalla. I also have two orange kittens named Bjorn and Eric The Red!

Odin will be pleased!

This is actually right now! Big Orange is Bjorn, little orange is Eric The Red, both males. The greys are females, Heidrun, Prowler and Phantom. They don’t like to leave me alone while I’m playing! Or sleeping for that matter!

Much better than a tumbler.

As a former hobby Brewer you might want to be careful about keeping gigbags next to your carboy. If the yeast gets to vigorous it can bubble out and cause a mess. I’ve seen pics where it has even hit the ceiling

I never thought of that! I guess I need to move them!

I have one of those rock tumblers with metal pins in it, that thing works great and cleans easily!

I was surprised as to how dark this batch is. I flavored it with pineapple puree!

Yeah especially the primary fermenter can get vigorous; I always did primary in a plastic bucket sitting on tons of newspaper, and secondary in the carboy in a nice cool room after a few days.

I miss brewing but donating a full day to doing dishes doesn’t fulfill me like slappin.

That being said making hard cider is suuuupppsr easy and fun. I might get back to that. Mead sounds fun but it takes a while I hear.

Kegs can help that. Expensive up front but worth it

Cleaning up the mess can be a bummer though, if the malt extract gets anywhere, sure.

It’s not legal to do here otherwise I would be doing it. Some people do anyway but the ingredients and gear are super expensive.

I used to have a full 15gal brewing cart with pumps. If you think bass GAS is bad brewing is just gross. I converted a giant chest freezer to have 4 taps/corney kegs and one small 3gal keg I used for cider. It was around the time all of my drinking buddies stopped drinking with me so… I had about 15gals of beer to drink and then I just quit and sold everything. I entered a couple of contests but my favorite beer was a stout that I put pretty much everything in. It was a chocolate, coffee, cherry milk stout. Because of the cherry preserves I put in it the ABV got quite high. You could catch a buzz on about 8oz
