It’s expensive becoming somewhat competent at bass :grinning:

Any thoughts on the Palmer / NUX or other options @Al1885 ?

Palmer looks like an all in one preamp/DI with drive too mine you. Where is it going in your signal chain? I don’t know how much it is in Canada but here is 200 and used is half that. For a 100 it’s definitely a good addition because it has the headphones out as well as aux in.

I might get one with a 9v I bet I can just take it anywhere.

Sorry @Al1885 I thought you had a Palmer Pocket Amp

Just looking for something a little better than the Zoom as a desktop preamp that i can use aux in / headphones out.

They’re the only two I know so far that are small but have those features.

I have the ashdown tone pocket. That’s a very good preamp and aux in headphone out, there’s also the Bluetooth model. I also have the Wampler Cory Wong compressor. It’s a booster and DI. For everything else I use the Radial engineering passive DI.

I’m a few days in and I really like the concept and the outcome.

Very easy to use and great quality, I’m having a lot of fun !

Or just go for the easy one…Pussy. although I doubt it’s about cats

I don’t need/want a J but this 500 is getting really tempting for this price.

He’s selling it as junk because it has a couple problems with the electronics that frankly will be real easy to fix. It’s otherwise decent.

That’s about $250, around half their usual price here.

It seems your circles around a new instrument are getting narrower and narrower… :joy:

I mean the funny thing is I’m not even looking at all and they keep throwing themselves at me, like the world is sending me a message

Well, I have started looking at this more like…

  • we are not getting younger
  • we are hardly getting healthier
  • the world is spiraling down the can

Why wait when opportunites like these come up? And, really, wait for what exactly??

My practice headphone is a Maono AU-MH601 (purchased ~2 years ago), rock solid, sounds awesome with all bass sounds present, purchased for about ~40EUR, much better than expected and still going strong (using every day).

Well turns out that it really was high time to replace the strings (hearing the new set), will see how long these coated versions last.

Now I went for a 90° plug instrument cable originally (my friend keeps breaking his bass’s jack socket as playing seated but using a straight connector - I grew tired of always soldering back the stuff :joy: ) and besides the cable I came home not only with the set off bass strings but also these:

Picks (for UK mates: plectrums) because I started to try using a pick (mainly by having been enrolled to IAM course over at SBL) and wanted to test ride a bunch of thickness/material/shaped ones; and the electric guitar strings… Well tomorrow I’ll receive (hopefully) a Squire Bullet Telecaster as with having the Ampero One (thanks again @sunDOG mate!) and getting better with recording via Audacity thru the Ampero One got curious on rhythm guitar (to record my own ideas/concepts assuming having any). Stay tuned.
