Forgot to mention that 30th December we had a (limited participation) rehearsal - only drums, lead guitar (through Katana 100W 1gen 212) and myself (with the Sire Z3). Took the Hartke HD210 cab, paired it with the Ashdown RM112T cab (thus having 4Ohm setup) and played with my Elf. I am extremely amazed bot by the Hartke and the Elf to be honest:
And you wouldn’t belive but this is the setting on the 200W Elf, please carefully examine the gain/volume settings - anything higher was too much, really un-f.ckin-believable:
My “struggle” for now that I have a J, a P and a MM (-type), have sufficient amplification (Ampeg RB210 + Yamaha BBT500h + Elf then the 112 and 210 cabs. Have the “pedal board” besides the Ampero One…
No real need (and drive) for GAS. But I know it’ll return
And now reading so much about the Japanese-made Yamaha BBs, dude, I started to itch (but try to resist)
You could take the middle ground and look at bassVI (tuned E - E like a guitar but an octave lower or EADGCF to keep it all fourths like a bass) or baritone guitar (tuned A - A or B - B which is about halfway between a guitar and bass).
Well - it’s not that I’m against these (especially the VI) but… Now this is my thing to play around the (rhythm) guitar as I am familiar with basic and power chords, hae a multieffect supporting any sounds/amps/cabs to be simulated and Squier Bullet is like 100EUR (used) soooooooo not much to lose I believe
So I had gotten a Squire J bass combo with the rumble 1.5, found i liked the chunkier neck of the P and GAS ensued. Found this online, got it home and found the description did not match the item (description said ot came with a HiMass, guess I got GASlighted. Lmao). Contacted the seller and they mailed the bridge out and are covering the charges for the install.
I’ve been through one lesson with her and my hand placement feels better. I have her paired with a Rumble 40, Seymor Duncan Saturday Night Special pickups sound really good with the D’Adario flatwound nylons.
