The old Mustang war absolutely terrible! Sound was soso, but I found it unusable. WHat LED means what?
The Nux Pro should be similar to the old Mustang…
@Whying_Dutchman and @BozzerWolf I went ahead and ordered the Fender Mustang Micro Plus. I like the fact that it connects to the same Fender Tone Android app that I use with my Rumble Studio 40. No need to install YAA (Yet Another App). I sent Thomann an email to cancel the other order. I hope they are able to do that before it ships. That would save the hassle of returning it.
At this point I always suggest to get the Zoom AMS 24 though
I had the VOX, the old Fender, the Boss Katana GO, the Spark MINI and tested several others (NUX).
I traveled a lot, so needed something small.
The Zoom has not the same form factor ,and effects / bluetooth are missing … but the Zoom AMS 24 is so much better that the other devices mentioned. It is a poper audio interface in mini format.
If you need effects: you could use BIAS F/X on iPhone.
And you can connect really any device via USB … great audio quality and zero latency!
It takes power from either USB and batterie … and has two head phone outputs, in case a charming mademoiselle wants to listen in, when you play at dawn on the beach…
I really hope that I can use the Rumble Studio 40/Stage 800 bass presets instead of the Mustang guitar presets. We’ll see. The Fender Tone app defaults to the Mustang presets, but switches to the Rumble presets after it connects to it the first time. I’ll have to test whether that switch is retained after shutting the amp and the app down.
EDIT: I think I’m stuck with the presets built into the Micro Plus. The Tone app adjusts to the presets in the device it’s connecting to. Now I hope there’s at least one bass head/cab preset.
I think this a great pro for the nux. Everything it has endless parameters to tweak. And you can upload new presets with qr codes. Maybe you take a look on both. The nux package is not sealed, so no one will notice u have tried it if you return. I don’t think it’s a problem anyway at Thomann.
Pretty big hands and big reach proportional to my hands. And it’s the note definition on the b string. Plus I get to pretend I’m Jacob Umansky or Eugene from jinjer.
Both the Nux and Fender headphone amps have shipped, scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. My one concern with both is how well they will handle my 250 ohm headphones (one Beyerdynamic DT 880 and two DT 770). The same concern also applies to the built-in headphone amps in my Mayones Cali 4 and Cali 5. I haven’t played them with headphones yet.
I use my ATH-M50X Pro Monitor headphones with my Mayones built in headphone amp. I bought a 38 ohm set of cans to avoid any limitations. But you got be wondering. I’ll pull out my Audeze to see if the headphone amp will push 250 ohm cans.
Well, in general it’s all about Max volume. I can drive my 6xx on my iPad headphone jack or my MacBook just fine at a comfortable volume. If you need more power to open it up you may need a DAC.
Which Audeze do you have? I always like their planar tech. Try to pull the trigger a few times,
I have never been able to get past my old hardware design days in the '80s in the oil and gas business. If something failed, the explosions and fires that followed tended to be pretty severe, so all of my designs were done with 50% design margin. Expensive, but safer in the real world.
So, I want clean, usable volume at 50% of max volume. But that’s just me.
