Reverb used to be so good but all of the fees and tax really killed it.
I had the same experience with Reverb and another EBMM bass.
I found a super-mint Cutlass bass for sale at a remarkable price. I contacted the seller and asked him to email me. It turned out he was the original owner and a newbie infrequent player. He was also unaware of the (to him) substantial fee Reverb charges sellers. I informed him that Reverb would also charge me Texas sales tax, which I avoid paying every chance I get. So we made a mutually beneficial deal that saved each of us a good chunk oâ cash, and made both parties happy.
Minor bit of GAS, but what the heck. I have been fighting the urge to buy more gear hard - saw a local bass for sale yesterday, and asked enough details of the seller until I talked myself out of it, whew!
I like practicing while hearing my amp, but I hated using the gaming headphones I have over one ear to hear the lessons. So I added the single ear headphone. Can also be used for work meetings, so it doesnât really count!
But sometimes I want to practice at like 2am. Happened this very morning. So I got the monitor headphones to plug into my amp, and the 10â cable to attach laptop lesson output into the amp.
Cheapy cheap upgrade, but now I can practice whenever I want without worrying about my wife or the neighbors hearing it.
And yes that is the printout of Billie Jean on the right. Itâs absolutely kicking my ass so far!
Another Rumble owner! Is it a 40 or a 25?
Itâs a 40 and I think itâs perfect for my uses. I havenât turned it up beyond 25% volume because neighbors, but I love the sound it puts out!
Yup. Although I canât blame them for having to comply with laws that require them to collect sales tax Etsy boosted the fees as well and that they are responsible for. Altogether Reverb lost itâs attractiveness as a sellers marketplace for individuals when the retail sellers showed up and pretty much took over.
Tough to compete with those who buy wholesale and can ship at corporate rates.
Yeah itâs exactly this. This is not Reverbâs fault, any more than copyright complaints are Youtubeâs fault. They are both just complying with the laws.
It would apply to the new product but since Reverb is not a physical store Iâm just not very happy about double paying the tax on use item, but that just me.
Iâm with you, @Al1885.
It doesnât matter to me that Reverb must comply with sales tax laws. I still wonât buy anything used from there.
Stores charge sales tax on used items too.
I donât buy any used stuff, as a general rule. But I absolutely never buy used stuff from stores that charge sales tax.
I also seek out online stores that donât charge sales tax, which is why I avoid Sweetwater, et al.
My favorite online American music resource is Pitbull Audio. My favorite overseas resource is Thomann. Neither charge Texas sales tax, so thatâs where I get my stuff.
Does Pitbull charge CA sales tax? If not then sweet.
Yep, Pitbull has to charge California sales tax. Sucks for @booker and @Al1885.
Still, their customer service blows Sweetwater out of theâŚerâŚsweet water.

Stores charge sales tax on used items too.
I can see brick and mortar have to charge the sales tax but if you are buying directly from seller on a used item and not getting a commerce protection (As-Is) why do we pay tax of an item that already paid tax on the first purchase. Like classified.
This is on Ebay, pickup fairly close to me for 500 Dollarydoos, approx 300 in International Oil Dollars.
Looks to be basically new. And MIJ!
Now I am not a Fender fanboi but this one speaks to me.
I wonât get it as I have just got a new Purple Obass, P-Bass.
But Damn this is tempting
I really dig that white tbh. For a MIJ Fender P, at that price youâd be losing money.
(doooeeeeet)
That Babicz is just Money! So cool.
Do what you gotta do.
$400 on a battery for the brideâs car last week, looking at a huge expense to get my aircon fixed and a few other things, bank account says no.
Also there are 11 people watching it and it closes on Sunday-I predict a last minute bidding war to a stupid price

Still, their customer service blows Sweetwater out of theâŚerâŚsweet water.
Before August 2021, when Chuck Surack sold out to a private equity firm, their service levels were pretty good. I spent a lot of money with them. But service levels dropped like a stone after the acquisition, as did my purchases. They are now run by East Coasters in suits using spreadsheets. Bah bye!
