Thank you for enabling me lmao. I do really want that music man sound, so I think the Z3 will be a better option for me
Thank you for pointing that out. An MIJ bass isnât nearly as good when itâs made in China.
This seems like a great solution! Thank you for that! I want pink and white, plus I want a music man type of sound, so really the Z3 is my best bet⌠If they ever come off of back order
You can get them in France and UK ⌠rosegold, left handed
Iâd really like one of these!!
What retailers should I check?
Looks like Andertonâs has the rosegold Z3 LH: Sire Marcus Miller Z3 Left Handed 4 String Bass in Rosegold - Andertons Music Co.
It comes with a tortie pickguard but theyâre pretty easy to swap as long as the shape and hole patterns match. If not, itâs not tooo big a deal to put a few more small holes in the body if the replacementâs a bit bigger than the Sire version.
Yes, that was the one in UK. It could be that the one in France was Star Music, but there itâs not available anymore, sorry
Added my very first overdrive pedal to my rig. It arrived yesterday. The Magellan 350w version doesnât have the overdrive channel the 800w version does. I no longer need an 800w head so the 4 On The Floor which has the same features as the 800âs overdrive channel works very well as substitute.
The four levels of drive tend to emulate other well know bass amps.
Drive Select âGearâ Descriptions:
1st GEAR: Reminiscent of a tube ampâs clean channel (including natural harmonics) with a bit of overdriven tone when driven hard. A nice âalways-onâ selection. (Ampeg B15)
2nd GEAR: Emulates a tube ampâs mildly overdriven tone, with a small amount of dynamically compliant clipping asymmetry. This is a natural feeling, touch sensitive algorithm with very mild compression that responds with more texture and complexity, the harder you dig in. (Vox Bass)
3rd GEAR: A more aggressive up-shift from 2nd gear, this moderate, asymmetrical overdrive is less compliant, with greater compression for a tighter feel. (Ampeg SVT)
4th GEAR: This is the most aggressive gear of all â a heavier, symmetrical, low compliance overdrive that can enter distortion territory when driven hard. While there are a lot of harmonics and compression present, this gear does not give up tone or feel. (Acoustic 360)
My main interest is in 1st and 3rd gears to add some Ampeg like warmth and grit when needed.
Got the line 6 bass express pod for the little board. More tinkering around and trying to figure out how to put everything together. Iâm to old for these digital pedals lol
What a coincidence, I just had the same pedal board delivered today. Dâaddario XPND
Interesting follow up to this.
When I had time to work with it in earnest I ended up with an annoying high pitched whine or whistle that increased significantly as I added more overdrive volume. It was even there but faintly with no signal from my bass at all.
If I removed the 4 On The Floor running only my compressor the signal was dead silent even with the output from the compressor maxed (high marks to Keeley for that). Pedal order made no difference either.
I searched through the manual to see if there was something I could find and got nowhere. I finally reached out for some help in the Genlzer thread on TalkBass hoping someone would have an answer.
Someone did. Andy Fields (agedhorse) who along with Jeff Genzler designed the pedal came on and we walked through some steps together this time before he finally asked what power supply I was using.
While I thought I had it running via one of my One Spots as it turned out I didnât. It was 9v power supply Iâd gotten with a different pedal. I swapped it with a One Spot and voilaââŚproblem solved.
Why do I love Genzler gear? This is why. On a weekend as late as 9:30 pm I get help from a guy who actually designed the pedal and he stayed with me 'til we got it figured out and working as expected.
Where else can you get that kind of personal service these days?
Iâd never thought to check the power supply because I believed it was a One Spot and Iâd never had issues with those. So if you ever experience a pedal issue like mine check your power supply. Your problem may be external and not the pedal itself.
All change on the pedal board. Wanted to split the signal for live/rehearsal; DI out from Palmer to PA speakers and other signal to Ashdown Amp/cabs. That means I can turn up my stage amps without affecting the PA mix.
Bought a Radial ABY switch to split signal as required.
Palmer Pocket Amp to replace the Ampeg SGT-DI as there wasnât enough room on my pedal board and I really like the small form of the board as it sits nicely on the desk.
The Radial is super quiet. The Palmer is a nice clean preamp that I can have phones out and aux in for practicing at home.
If anyoneâs interested in my SGT-DI then send me a message and letâs do a deal.

Why did you pick that bass @AndreaJayne ?
Because its purple!
I wanted a mid quality 4 string to sit between my ÂŁ300 p bass, and the Ibanez 5 string. I donât always want to play the 5 string, so thought it would sit nicely between the two. I like humbuckers, and Iâve heard some good things about Jackson basses.
And its purple.
Being a total beginner, Iâd just plug my bass into a Scarlett connected to my laptop. This said, I work in tech and I was looking to avoid staring at yet another screen while practicing. After some deliberation, I got the Darkglass Alpha-Omega Photon and Iâm really happy with it.
While itâs probably not the best DI, or the best computer audio interface, and certainly not the best tuner, having all that functionality, with a compressor, EQ, and the A-O distortion in one box really helps with focusing on actually playing, rather setting stuff up.
Anyway, thatâs my GAS story, but it went surprisingly well!
Those SGTâs are the catâs pajamas if youâve got the room for it on your board.
I use a tape measure everyday day for work, so Iâm pretty certain it wonât fit
Sounds good to me!
The Radial stuff is really nice, had a different one for a bit, was fantastic.
