Hello JerryP:

I seen on the map where your at and I’d thought I’d give you a heads up on a bass that’s available not far from you on Marketplace.

Its a Fender Marcus Miller j bass, there are actually a few within a couple hours from you.

I found around eight for sale worldwide according to my searches and they are mostly on the eastern seaboard. I have one and think they are so great and now so rare that if they were anywhere near me I’d have another.

Just a thought. Enjoy…:jbass: :+1:

My G&L came in today, Tribute series can’t afford Fullerton, used but like brand new and it came with flats on it. Very pleased with it in every way.

Nice! That was quick.

It was only like 2.5 hours away but yeah I thought it would have taken longer as well. Thank you again for the help on the G&L topic.

I could use some help with a GAS related issue. My birthday is coming up and my wife is buying me an upgrade to my Boss GX-10. I decided there was more impact there than getting my baritone guitar at this point (I think I’m doing a Sire jazzmaster for xmas).

What I’m looking for is a full pedalboard replacement. I need at least 4/5 footswitches for kicking effects on and off. Preferably with stereo XLR outputs but as long as I can go dual 1/4 to XLRs, that’s perfectly acceptable. I need an fx loop for the couple of boutique pedals that I want to keep in my loop. Edit: It also needs to work with bass or guitar, or the Darkglass Anagram would be on its way here.

What I’m considering atm is the Boss GT-1000, Line 6 Helix LT, Kemper Profiler Stage, or Headrush Prime. I really, really wish the Quad Cortex was in my price range because it would already be on its way here.

Right now, the GT-1000 is leading the pack of realistic buys. I’m used to Boss’s editor even though the GT-1000’s is a bit different. I like that it’s got a built in 6/6 interface that can record wet and dry signals concurrently. That also means that I can bypass my mixer, simplifying my signal path even more. The Helix LT has the same interface set up. I’m not sure about the Kemper or Headrush. The Headrush sucks as far as editing patches on my laptop. The Kemper’s interface is… dated is a nice way of putting it.

A couple of honorable mentions that don’t quite meet my needs but might work are the Boss GX-100. Exact same editor as the GX-10, plus I could sync my current patches directly over to it. I think I could make it work with TRS to XLR cables or as an interface straight into my DAW allowing me to reamp. I would love the QC nano but it doesn’t have an FX loop, and I’d need a second midi box to give me the footswitches but it sounds fantastic.

Helix would be my choice, especially you can get a deal on Helix Native with it.

I hadn’t looked at Native before. It looks like its all of the Helix amps, cabs, and effects in DAW plug in form, eh? So one would be able to record into Garageband straight from the LT with wet and dry signals, decide they didn’t quite like something about that wet signal and fix it?

Would I be elgible to buy it if I’m buying it used off of reverb?

good question, not sure

But yeah it’s basically a Helix plugin for DAWs, and IIRC you can also use it as a GUI for editing patches for the pedal too.

I don’t think you need to own any of their hardware to use Native. And yes, as Howard said, it is like working with the hardware, but as a plug-in :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yeah owning a helix just gets you the discount - you can buy it separately for a lot more

This is what pushed me in the Helix direction - you can create and use the same patches with the pedal and the Native plugin. With HX Edit, there’s no need to use Native to edit patches within a DAW, but you certainly can.

And if you wanted to, you could re-amp entirely through the HX as well. So, as long as you recorded a DI (and the HX makes it stupid simple to record a DI at the same time as an effected track) you can apply a different software patch through Native or re-amp and use different physical effects. Super versatile.

Line 6 gear also usually has a long shelf life. Even the original PODs still sound great. Their modeling definitely leads the pack, with NeuralDSP their main competitor, not Roland/BOSS.

The problem with BOSS is that they mainly emulate their own pedals and amps. If you’re a big BOSS fan, this is a no-brainer, but for everyone else I’d personally recommend Line 6 or Neural DSP instead. The new Darkglass multi-FX pedal (Anagram) is also really good.

If the one on reverb has already used the discount, the full Native is on sale for $160 until 12/8. I’m glad the HX edit exists so I have time to get it in hand and play around with it for a bit before I decide whether or not those plugins are worth that to me. I kinda think they are. Being able to go in a fix the sound on takes in post sounds like a really, really good idea. Recording Bela Lugosi’s Dead for example, I had 1 amazing flawless take that I hated the sound on. I spent a week trying to rerecord but I never got another one close to that good again.

I totally agree, and in general I really like the Boss sounds (the amps even sound good if you’re willing to put the work in). I’m not upgrading my GX-10 because of sound or lack of effects. I want it to replace most of both of my pedalboards and to simplify my workflow. I need more footswtiches and don’t want to DIY some bailing wire and chewing gum solution is what it boils down to.

I’ve been doing some digging into all this the last month or so while I was furloughed and I think the closest to a perfect board replacement for me would be the QC. They just sound so good. As a basement player though, I can’t choke the cost for one. I’ve even gameplanned trying to make a nano work with a morningstar controller and going to my mixer with TRS to XLR cables. I’d still be losing the FX loop. I could try and capture the Meris and Keeley pedals that I don’t want to lose. I dunno. I don’t know how well that would work as far as tweaking the reverb settings for the Meris from the Nueral DSP app.

The Anagram would have been really tempting but I’m looking for something to replace my bass and guitar set ups.
