GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

I hate them, but I hate all trems

I have 2 sets of VegaTrem sitting in my shed waiting to be installed on the MusicMan guitars. It feels very good.

Whew! I’m definitely better than you guys, I own about a dozen and I know how to play 2 songs, :joy:

Looks at the Floyd Rose on my Jackson, haha. Yeah, I hate em too lol

I’m totally GASing after this pedal and I took the time to make an experiment. I have a Sansamp VT CHARACTER series pedal and a Way Pickle / Pork Loin. I gave ChatGTP the links to the FIFTEEN/Ian Martin Allison’s shorts and asked it to emulate the tone on my pedals. With a few corrections I really got to something so close… what can’t be emulated are the dynamics of the Fifteen which is IMO what really makes this pedal interesting. I certainly can’t afford the Fifteen or the Super for SVT. But I made the same exercise for the Super…

Cool, in that case I don’t think it’s worth the price just for the dynamics? It is also the cab that does a lot for the Fifteen. I kinda agree with @John_E that the SGT-DI from Ampeg might be the better choice, you get the SVT and B15 from the source, multiple cab sims, headphone out and on top of that it is cheaper. The problem is that I am a massive OE fan

Did you got yours @Barney ?

I really like that pedal and I’d be curious to hear experiences. It has such mixed reviews but all agree that the B15 sounds great. I haven’t tried it out and there’s no place I could. I’d love to though. I guess it all comes down to what your needs are. I like simplicity and minimum gear. I went from a Boss Katana Bass 110 for all the options and tweaks to use it absolutely flat, no gain, no effects, blend at cero and have the same tone for everything (amp, LogicPro, interface monitors) all through two older pedals + two p-basses, one w/ flats one w/ rounds. But that is perfect just for me…

I had an SGT-DI. It’s a fantastic pedal. If you’re running a fairly simple setup, I think you’d have a tough time beating it for its price point. Eventually it didn’t work for me, only because I was putting a full pedalboard together and it takes up a lot of real estate. I wish I’d kept it as my spare DI tbh.

Thanks for the comment. I’m sure I’ll get my hands on one sometime and considering what I like most is vintage tube tone B15/SVT it would be perfect.

As have I.

Buy the pedal instead. Never lose tuning either… love mine

No. It’s coming from Quebec. So 4300km and Canada Post = Xmas? :man_shrugging:

If I don’t like it, I won’t lose my shirt as they’ll have good resale.

Alright, I’ll follow up with better pics and a more in-depth review of the Roscoe SKB. In the meantime, I also found someone willing to sell me their Roscoe Century fretless, so, uh, yeah.

I’ve decided I’m selling everything else. A lot of my GAS has been about trying to find out what I really like best. Found it.

Same!

Glad you arrived at some instruments you feel truly comfortable with!

Really happy for you, man. Get after it and sell what you need to get…er…what you need. :joy:

Seriously, congrats. It’s a great thing to find out what truly makes like Chesterfield and satisfies!

Well, no new gear for now. However, I got me some bass tones for my ToneX pedal

Even the Warwick? :scream:

Yep! It’s a fantastic bass, no doubt. If I was going to keep another it would be that or the Sandberg. But selling those will do the most to help fund these new purchases.

Congrats man, the fingerboard is outrageous. Stripe Ebony? that would make for some awesome tone.

I’m trying to talk myself off the ledge, I’m currently trying to convince myself that the US made G&L Doheny is worth the extra couple of hundred bucks… even though they have the same electronics as the Tribute. I’m not eyeing getting rid of any of my basses to fund it though (I’m in a great place with my basses atm no GASing for anything new or shiney)… so that makes it a little easier.

Also looking hard at a Reverend Jetstream with 3 P90s. You can get some really choice tones with it. I think the Doheny, whichever one, is it as far as tone. It sounds so heckin good with those MFDs. I think the reverend is next though. Maybe I’ll grab one of their baritones.
