GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

Shame I sold my L-2000 already. I could have got more out of it.

I’ve got a Sadowsky MetroExpress Modern 5 on the way. Sweetwater had a good deal.

I feel you! I woke up last week and just really wanted a Tele haha. I’ve been playing my King V alot, might be weird at first playing the new Tele but I dig em’.

Gave my little baby bundle of Christmas Joy a quality check tonight. She wears the same hat as her poppa :sob::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart_eyes:

BassRig Fifteen out at rehearsals tonight.

Sounded better than my old pre amp in the IEMs (Our singer said ā€˜oh that sounds a lot better’). The real test will be the next gig on Friday when I send it to FOH and my on stage cabinets.

We shall see how it goes at the gig.

Here seems as good as a place as any to post this. Interesting vid.

I played that Yin Yang, it’s @booker_t and it sounds expensive and feel even more expensive.

Sounds is cheap, if the exercise would be very interesting, I’m sure they can all get close to the real price, if they can feel the bass.

You’re right - there is no accounting for the fit, feel and playability of each instrument in the video .

Messy desk today. Creating new patches (one per song) in my new HX Effects unit, creating a set list and then testing the levels etc through the amp ready for our next gig.

Hopefully the new pedal board arrives before then.

HX edit is a lot easier than I remember. Maybe the lack of cab / amp options has reduced my option fatigue.

Also don’t mind tone shaping with the computer as I’m just tweaking parameters rather than starting from scratch.

It sounds good through the amp.

I’ll be selling my HX One if anyone wants it.

I need to get back in and try out HX edit again. I just find it much easier to go through the LT itself to do stuff. Now that I’ve figured out how to build some patches that I like (pilfer tf out of the presets and tweak to my liking) then save them in the User presets.

There’s a learning curve for sure with HX Edit, but it’s much faster to drag / drop effects into and out of the chain on a computer than the unit.

There are pros and cons but for building up patches I prefer HX edit.

There is, I’m just trying to find something that works for me for the time being. Building these for both bass and guitar, I’m trying real hard to not get caught menu diving more than playing.

Yeah that’s why I quit the first time :face_with_monocle: Not enough playing, too much menu diving. Now I’ve spent the day creating the patches and tweaking the levels, that’s it. Ready for rehearsal / gig.

Back to practicing.

Also remember that pedal tweaking real pedals also takes time, and you can’t simply save and reload the results when you like them.

The biggest reason I prefer digital or hybrid synths over pure analogs.

Bit of an update on the Roscoes. The SKB arrived before Thanksgiving, so I got to play with it a bit before I had to travel. The fretless Century arrived too just a few days ago. It’s perfect.

Some good news and bad news with the SKB, though. The good news is that it sounds flipping amazing, looks gorgeous, and plays really nicely, although it needs a bit of adjustment still.

The bad news is that, unbeknownst to me when I bought it, it had been dropped and the clear coat was pretty messed up on the edge:

It played so well I thought about just dealing with it, but at the end of the day, for the cost, this was unacceptable. To their credit, GC took it back no questions asked and even refunded the shipping costs. No harm, no foul.

The excellent news is that I started looking for a replacement and found a Signature level Century model (which as it turns out I like better anyway) that looks awesome with the carved body, flamed koa top, wenge neck, and matching front/back headstock faces. And I wound up saving some cash at that, as it was less expensive. Score. So now I’m eagerly awaiting this guy:

After ordering this I was thinking I’d try it and return it immediately. After all, I don’t need another bass, but… this thing is awesome, so well built, Hipshot tuners, and a nice surprise of a super cool, styl-ee hardshell case that also blew me away. Woot.

I gotta sell some stuff.
