GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

Good luck @Vader , its a decent pedal, download tone print and try a bunch of tc and artists settings. You literally beam the from your phone through you bass pickups. It’s cool.

Vacation GAS

Daughter wanted to go to Universal Studios in Orlando, so we took her. You can’t go to Orlando without visiting Bass Central. Really cool to see that many high end instruments in one place. If you drool over it, its probably there in stock ready to play. Really cool guys working there lots of cool stories in the little bits of time that I was there. I could have stayed all day and just listened. If you dont know its owned by Beaver Felton, who was one of the 1st bass teacher of the masses. He started out teaching with cassette tapes, then CD, then VHS and eventually DVD. He has an old Rickenbacher on the wall signed by a who’s who in the bass world. I took enough to buy a bass but ended up buying a pedal, though I will buy one next time. Ended up with a free t-shirt and a David pastorious signed CD. Now I have to drive my old truck around just to listen to it. Anyways i got a funk machine.

Cool little unassuming little place! I have bought a Dingwall and a Spector there. They have a Blue 5 string USA Spector that I have my eye on!

I bought a couple of basses from them when I lived in the U.S., but now with the 25%-30% import duty in France, I buy locally in the EU.

Huh, how have I never heard of Bass Central? I live like 10 minutes down the road from it! I’ll have to check it out.

You live 10 minutes from a Bass shop and didn’t know.

Imagine what might be out there an hour away?

In my defense… I’m not very observant. It’s in a small strip mall that’s down a side road where it’s not visible from the main road I’ve driven a thousand times, and on Street View looks to be about the size of a nail salon.

Plus, it never occurred to me that such a place would exist around here. Maybe a big music town like LA, or at least closer to the theme parks where the entertainment industry lives

All the boxes behind you contain basses as well. Not a single squire or ibanez to be found. It was hard for me to pass on that GK 115 legacy…

Cool place, definitely coming back sometime.

Where is this place? I’m not sure if I should know where it is, :joy:

Definitely have a few of my favorites there.

I’m about 2 hours southeast of Bass Central, but I don’t mind the drive! When I feel the GAS, I hit the gas!

I just got a BOD400 to use with my Rumble 15. The Rumble 15 is a great practice amp. I got it so I didnt need to drag my Rumble 100 around when practicing remote. i LOVE IT. It’s my first experience with effects except for my first amp (mustang lt25 - which I bought before I knew there was a difference between guitar and bass amps) The Mustang had lots of effects options via Fender tone. it was actually pretty cool. I sorta wish I had kept it to experiment with but my CFO (aka wife) insisted it be traded. I traded it for the R100 which has overdrive and tone options. The R15 is pretty bare bones. Not even a gain.

I asked ChatGTP for advice on adding a cheap pedal to the R15 to be able to emulate the R100 built in effects. the BOD400 was the top recommendation. AND it operates on a 9V battery in addition to an optional power supply

The Chat GTP conversation was amazing. It provided a table for creating mapping setups in the R100 to the setups if the BOD400 with R15. I played with it a bit last and it is great fun.
Note: the BOD400 has no on off switch - power is applied when the input connector is inserted. Also the battery compartment is in a secret location. (youtube)

Well the first one is here finally - and feels exactly as expected, smooth as butter even though over 2 decades old:

I expect the white one within a few days (as import duties’ paperwork already settled nearly a week ago and was released from customs this morning), really exciting times.

(Also tomorrow my first day in studio recording 3 songs, not sure to bring the “new” Fender that appears to be working awesome but no experience how it behaves during “stress” or the “old” Squier. I will sleep one on it anyhow  )
