National City, 2 of the big giants online store for bass are there. FretNation and Pitbull audio/ Music City.
I didn’t even know that the Pitbull audio even have a showroom. Good for you @JerryP I guess I have no excuse but to take a drive down sometime. 
Yeah, but then you’d have to deal with the 5 going past Carlsbad and Oceanside, then La Jolla and OB (I lived in OB 2 blocks from Dog Beach while I was going through my divorce #winning). I bet you spend enough there that you can make them bring something you’re interested in to you.
I-5 is ubershittay there but man that area is nice. Like serious settle down for keeps nice.
The showroom is not very big and they have more guitars than basses on display.
I have actually been there once myself (a few years back). Very nice guys and they even got basses not on display from their storage room in the back and opened the boxes for me to let me try the instruments
