Yeah it takes some time to take on the 5th string the good news is that’s the hardest part. You can get a 6 string now and you won’t be tripping as much, the brain pay respect to the 6 string a whole lot more than 5 string,
The key to fanned frets is not to think about it as playing fanned frets and just play normally. Your hand would naturally place and fret perfectly as you have practiced.
That’s a gift and a curse, Yamaha is doing to their Imports what Fender USA doing to their Japanese imports, making the model more exciting!
I was offered a great price for my BB735A, I’m still on the fence about it. On one hand, it’s a great bass, on the other hand Cha-Ching,
For most people I would say to keep it as it is a hard bass to beat for even double the price, but with your collection you know what you’re getting in to
The not insubstantial amount of bread you need for all your new bass acquisitions has to come from somewhere.
If the offer you got was really good, take it, @Al1885. God knows you have a few other instruments in your shed that should keep you from shedding too, too many tears.
My 4 strings collections are great for the most part. Some are greater than others but my 5 strings are limited and they are all above average performers. I’m quite certain that my 735 is suffer from good new set of strings. I’ll do that first before I decide anything,
Most underrated statement of the year. You are getting a small boutique built quality with the big brand R&D. For less than $750 street price new you are getting a lot of bass (tech) for less money. This and Sire are just killing the imports market right now.
Both are very easy on the eyes too, it puts Fender MIM to shame.
It’s funny because I am down to instruments I cannot sell because I have demonstrated that I will just buy them back if I do. I’m on my second BB, second SBV, and third Revstar now.
I agree that picking up a bass online can be tricky
I was very much into the NG3 fiesta red but a visit to a shop to see it real life I didn’t like the color but felt in love with Gold finish (not my stuff usually)
If I’m lucky, I will be able to see my 3nd choices beg of September (dark forest green - that can be too dark on some
Picture; another dark red that seems perfect on picture)
I’ll see if I join the Dingwall club in a few weeks !
I previously thought the OC-2 as unobtainable/out of budget but found one for less than I thought. It even comes with an extra chorus pedal that I had on my list!
I thought the same thing when I was looking for a 30 year old RE-3. Not only did I end up finding one on Reverb for less than a new RE-6, but it was local, so I got to pick it up in person and have a nice chat about bass / guitar with a local gigging musician.
Congrats.
Not all OC-2s are created equally - thus the price differences.
All depends on the chipset inside and place of MFG, etc. - these determine how much ‘voodoo’ is inside and how much people are willing to pay for something they think is different.
Silver label, black label - Japan , Taiwan - lots written online.
