No, my headstocks cannot 69. Fender’s got me there.
Never had the notion nor inclination to mate my headstocks. I’ll happily stick with my non-Fenders, though.
Well, considering that Mayones has been building for over 40 years, and Sire started building about 10 years after that, I’d say it’s pretty obvious which design was first created.
That said, the headstock designs of the Mayones Jabba and Sire’s stock headstock are somewhat similar, but not identical.

I sized the images so the tuning posts in each headstock line up exactly. This is a very close approximation only as there is an off-axis camera angle difference that keeps the two photos from being precisely the same.
Oddball get today.
Conn Strobotuner from the ‘50s
Tubes/motors/lights/dials/fun.
Made by the good folks who make the saxes I collect.
Pristine condition and works perfectly.
A later model (ST-6, mine’s an ST-3) was used by Zeppelin in the ‘70s apparently.
Built in microphone (front cover comes off and doubles as a mic stand (clever fellas!).
I love this thing
That’s so cool @John_E
We had on of these in the high school band room. It was fun to play with.
In my college symphonic band, we tuned to an F concert pitch. The conductor would have a first chair player play the pitch and the rest of us would tune to it. There were well over 100 instruments in the band, so this process was fast and effective.
The Fender headstock doesn’t look as out of proportion a my J-bass. The end knob is maybe a bit large, but it doesn’t look as silly as the strat sample.
OK, I kinda screwed up. On the dealer’s website they had a bass shown with three color options. I checked the stats on the first one I had clicked on, and it showed a 33"-35" multi-scale length. Looked at the other colors, but didn’t check the specs, since they were supposed to all be the same bass. Well, this one is a short/medium 30"-32" scale, and that’s not what I wanted. It is extremely nice, though! It sounds absolutely phenomenal with the Nordstrand big splits. EQ has sweepable mids and a ton of tonal variety. The neck is beautiful and comfortable. Balance is perfect. It’s extremely light but sounds huge. The multiscale factor was a complete non-issue. The extra string took a bit of getting used to, but I really like the options it gives you.
So, it’s going back. Not to worry, though - I’m sold on this formula so I’m exchanging it for this one in the longer scale length:
It is said that within a man lives two wolves, and that he must choose which to feed. I too, have a wolf telling me to get the Jack Casady Fretless, aged royal tan, for a whisker under a month’s salary, and another telling me I should spend the money on physiotherapy.
Admittedly I have 4 basses already, including one hollow body, and I’m not keen on the cheesy plastic pickup cover or pickguard, but there’s something out this instrument I really like…
Maybe it’s time to sell a bass.
My BTB is 34-37.
Every single time I now pickup a 34 and below bass, I wonder where the rest of the bass is… I can’t even imagine 30-32". Good luck with the replace!
Oh yeah. Hollow body Fretless 355 style, check check check. Nice!!
Whisker under a month’s salary is the only way to run!
I was at a show last night (nanowar of steel) where the bass player for the band from Italy had a pedal board that only consisted of a wireless receiver/tuner into a darkglass Adam. And that’s it. I have an Adam, I guess I’m well out of justifications for gas.
Anyhow I really want this pedal rn:
Ok this showed up at my porch today. It’s a cool looking thingamajig but, but the included power adapter are not the one we use here so gotta order another one.
I did pull out my Boss PSB-1U and it works. So just have to order another.
What is this? I did a search and didn’t find anything.
