Help! How to record?

Yeah this works with several DAWs. I haven’t checked but I would also bet Logic Pro has even more direct integration with FCPX. @MikeC would know.

Edit: yep lots of youtube videos about workflows integrating the two.

I just record the video on iphone and record the audio into a DAI (focusrite Scarlet) connected to my macbook and use GarageBand as the DAW. Then dump the audio and video files into iMovie. Put an opening image into imovie and sync the audio/video just by using my eyes and ears. Add an ending image. In the beginning it took a while, but after doing it a few times, I only spend a half hour or so on the iMovie side of it. I did have to change my iPhone settings to get it more of a constant frame rate.

Yeah, FCPX also contains some very powerful legacy Logic capabilities out of the box.

I regularly use Final Cut to quickly edit voiceovers for client videos. FCPX’s magnetic timeline, voice isolation (noise canceling), and super-simple breath ducking capabilities make what used to be a tedious chore, a joy.

I also edit music soundtracks and added SFX in Final Cut. I reserve Logic for extensive music editing.

@aitkensp you could get one of these, plug it into your phone and you are gtg. Only other thing would be play music for background.

Wow that’s a really cool amp. So much going on in that tiny package! Looks about 1/2 the size of my rumble 15 but packs twice the punch! My wife already complains the 15W is too loud haha! (I do practice with headphones most of the time)

In the short term I think i am going to stick to my phone unfortunately. Most definitely user error, lack of experience, but I feel like my phone recording came out superior to my recording w/ Amplitube, laptop camera, and Davinci Resolve.
I absolutely messed it up by recording the video and song music in one take, and then recording the bass in a second take, instead of at the same time. With that method I will never truly sync up. I realized during my day of troubleshooting that my speakers/headset and iRIG were operating on different frequencies, preventing me from using YT and Amplitube at the same time. Growing pains!

Medium term I’m going to look at getting a mic, possibly getting a Scarlett interface as well. The iRIG I have has less than impressed me, I’m not sure if its the build quality or if they are all like that, but I get a lot of… sound… that doesn’t seem like it should be there; sometimes I have to give it a thump and the “background noise” goes away and the bass signal will get sharper. Also with the iRIG alot of the setups in Amplitube sound horrible, with only 1 or 2 of the pre-setups being functional.

Long term I’ll consider becoming a movie producer as a 2nd hobby  I realize this is the route people use for professional quality, I’ll get there one day.

TY for everyone’s input and patience.

@John_E Sadly, it looks like most missed this comment but I didn’t. Hope you are well.
