No one ever dreams of a white St. Patrick’s Day but here we are!
It’s not too bad where I live but my job involves something similar to environmental monitoring for construction sites and much of the rest of the state is pretty much shut down, and might be for another day or so.
In wonderful?? Massachusetts now. Wife and I were supposed to be on a cruise this weekend but she’s having mobility issues. The weather? cold.rainy, and raw.
thankfully for our town, seems to be tracking further inland than expected. Exmouth, Coral Bay, Carnarvon bore the brunt of Narelle at her strongest category 4.
When I was little, we lived in Perth for a while.
One summer (grade 3, I think) there was a cyclone bearing down on us wind, rain etc.
The usual warnings for that sort of thing.
Of course, this was the early 80s so we walked to and then home from school.
Small world Gloucestre, I grew up in Perth, lived there until 1998. I remember that cylcone, my Mum kept us home from school that day. We don’t get many cyclones getting down to Gero. Exmouth got hit pretty bad with this latest Cyclone Narelle, it downgraded and bypassed us , we only got light rain. The kids enjoyed DFES shutting down the schools for the day though.
We lived further down Wanneroo Rd in Tuart Hill, went to Balcatta PS and SHS (40th reunion coming up this year)…growing up in Perth in the 80s loved Skateworld and Rollerdrome…
Major ice storm came through today. They were predicting a half-inch of ice and we got, if not more. Tree branches are down all over the place. At one point early this afternoon, you could stand outside and hear branches snapping and falling every few seconds.
Most of town is without power. Ours has been out since about 830 am. And now at 630 pm still no estimated time for it to be back.
We added a battery backup to our solar a few years ago and have been running off that all day.
