I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

Seriously. My first close look at it I was like “this can’t be right…”

Meanwhile, some cute touches on this. It has a little “Revstar” hanko stamp on the back of the headstock, like a second logo:

Stylized Japanese can be hard to read, but that says レヴスタ - “Revstar”

and it’s even their 3rd iteration to make the thing work.

first try :

second try :

third try “oh f*ck, it will be good enough” :

I didn’t think I would find it so bad, but… as a design it’s pretty bad

Also, you just have to love Gibson’s dollar store sense of style. That’s a fricking deluxe goldtop, same shitty plastic knobs.

actually I like the Gibson knobs … their best designs IMO :joy:

1976 goldtop, that thing probably weighs over 5kg too. Maybe over 6.

I’m a sucker for a good color theme! Lol
And yes @howard the #mostlyintuneomatic is a bit of a pain. Swapping a roller bridge in made a huge difference on mine as far as tuning stability and the amount that it digs into your hand when you’re palm muting, which I tend to do constantly. It’s such a part of my guitar playing that it makes playing my strat shaped objects infuriating.

Wow @Paul I love both those colors! I am also a fan of the maple fretboards.

Just a peek… it won’t hurt…

Very nice looking non bass object. Congrats!
I do like blue instruments for sure.

It would be awesome if they, Yamaha, made a single bridge pickup version like a Les Paul/SG Jr.

Nice one @howard! Glad I could be of assistance. :joy: I dig the blue one too. For some reason this guitar seems to match you better than the Cort. Cool theme collection!

Hmm I never had any issues with that tone bridge. I prefer hardtail too, but it was fine for my LTD EC-401.

Enjoy your new Revstar! :metal:

it’s fine as long as you don’t mind when some piece rattles and you spend an hour and still can’t figure out where or when you have to flip saddles around to try and get it intonated properly, or when it eventually starts to lean from the string tension…but it looks nice  .

At least it’s not robotuners

I think the best way to describe the tune-o-matic saddles is “bad dentistry”

I finally settled on a practice amp and bought a Boss Katana. I was contemplating getting the 100 watt, since it comes with an effects loop, but opted for the 50 instead. It was on sale for $229, and in reality I don’t see myself using any pedals with this amp anytime soon.

I’m running out of room in my practice space.

Good man. Stay away from that rabbit hole. One man’s slippery slope is another man’s slip n slide. I’m the latter. :man_facepalming:

I really wanted to go the way of a tube amp and pedals, but for home practice, I would need something that could attenuate to around 0.5 watts and still sound good. A tube amp didn’t really make sense for low volume practice and the Katana fit the bill.

I see lots of room under that amp, once you toss the box.:rofl::rofl:

LOL
I think I’m going to get a flat furniture dolly, put the Mark Bass on the bottom, and stack this one on top.

I have the Boss Katana 50 MkII also. If you get the FS-6 foot switch you can move around 4 different presets you have stored in the amp. Boss has a tone exchange platform so you can get tones others have made.

It’s a great choice, I’ve had mine for about 5 years, it has a nice analog sound vs some of the digital modelling amps. Mine is getting more use as an end table at the moment

The Katana librarian app is great for managing tone studio functionality from your phone or tablet.
