I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

The Blonde is more white than the image lets on. Here’s one in a shop I was at yesterday:

These do sound really good.

I played a Modena Red/Maple one at Ikebe. Fit like a glove, looks good too. I’d probably swap for a white pickguard with that red.

Blue’s my top pick, maybe actually followed by the blonde - it’s a neat white in person. Red is up there too though, as is Natural. Tough choice outside of Blue for me.

I really like a P90 in neck position on a Tele, that’s what I have on Juliette, my beloved #1 (see picture). Not sure about a PAF-like humbucker, I had one on a Fender Classic 50 but it was not so great. If I had to mount a HB neck pickup on a Tele, I would very probably choose some Gretsh-style TV Jones like on a Cabronita.

Me too, after checking a bunch of examples it’s landing as my favorite. If I were going to put a humbucker there I do not think I would want a PAF, but rather more like the Wide Range you mentioned. I found some examples of those that sounded good.

What do you think of something like a DiMarzio Chopper? Kind of liking it soloed here:

the Chopper is a good pickup but not really my favorite. I hade Chopper bridge on an Esquire but I sold it many years ago.

Also I’ve always wondered why a Strat pickup in neck position on a Tele, is not something more popular. It could be really excellent.

I was wondering the same, this is the first I saw it.

I’m kind of blown away how much better the Chopper T sounds than the SD '59 in the bridge:

Pretty sure I will want a P90 though

I had both and the one that’s on Juliette is the SD Lil’59  both are good in my opinion but a bit different, what I like with the SD is that it somewhat still sounds like a Tele. a bigger Tele.

I liked the neck '59 I had. For that video though it sounded like the DiMarzio was bringing a lot more clarity. The Lil '59 sounded good too though.

When I get some money in 10 days, this is on the short

list

That’s a nice strat. Lots of outstanding features easily visible. HSS is a good configuration, it’s what I had in fact.

I did pickup a practice amp a while back. Just in case

Dangit. Three used ones in Forest Blue, but all Rosewood. Also not much of a savings, but hey it’s this year’s Fender line.

Not quite that but just saw this MIM, which is basically a Strat in a Tele body:

They call those Nashville tele’s. A “one machine to do it all provided you don’t need a wang bar” guitar.

I always thought a Nashville Tele was a Tele body with a Strat pickup configuration?

HSS is a common Strat pickup configuration.

It’s interesting they chose to keep the Tele neck pup and not the bridge though.

@Wombat-metal do you know if that is a Global, Universe, or Handmade series? That will determine its place of manufacture.

It looks awesome, but I don’t see roasted maple on their domestic MIJ line.

Which is not bad - the Globals I have seen looked great, as did the Universes.

You are correct, it is made in Indonesia, but still looks nice. I have a few guitars on my list. Nothing set yer

Global (Indonesia) line looked good to me when I saw them, very nice looking instruments.

Like I said, I’ve got others in mind, will have to choose and that’s the hard part
