Yeah, cycling can be suffering … the kind of suffering that is great, because it’s a mind over matter thing.
I have this more on road bikes, when climbing, going against the wind (in the north of Germany the wind always comes from the direction you go to!) or going (too) long distance.
On an MTB it’s all fun. Feeling free, jumping, falling on your face. I feel like a little child jumping like crazy in a puddle when being on a mountain bike.
I feel like “I’m too old for that sh#t!” (in a pleasant way) on a road bike.
The gravel bike gives me both kinds of suffering and freedom, so that’s all good.
Currently I’m severely out of shape and totally overweight - so the suffering during the next few months will be maximum pleasure, according to my reasoning…
Do I understand it correctly that the Zoom solution does not allow you to record, as it has no audio interface?
So the audio interface would be necessary anyway, right?
The only advantage of the Zoom is the tactile knob on the device and possibly portability. The disadvantage (in my opinion) is complicated UI and possibly worse quality effects.
The advantage of a DAW/VST effects solution is better UI (depending on effect) and better audio quality (depending on effect), more flexibility, less portability (because: notebook) and no knob.
So, the question is more or less: do you want a knob?
I would bypass the GT-1B at this point; its price makes no sense as there are much much better options for not much more. The Line 6 gear is much better.
The multi effect part isn’t that important to me atm. Tbh, I’m just trying to figure out if I can get some thing put together that gives me a decent EQ and audio interface for less than the cost of just picking up a Rumble 40 and addressing the interface later. The combo amp seemed like a waste of space and a speaker for as often as I’ll be playing it without cans on is all.
I hear a lot of good stuff about these but have yet to pick one up. I’m still using my old guitar strap for the time being. I’ve also read good reviews about these Kliq straps if the Gruv ones are a bit too pricey (I think they’re pretty pricey).
Pick your favorite Brand, Colors, Style you want. They are pretty good with pros and cons on each design. I have the Fender US flag design for the 4th of July and some nation holidays play, a pink, red, and all kinds of color for different occasions,
Yes, the Zoom has nothing to do with the recording at all, you need the DAI.
I think the Zoom, for you, is situational use. I agree the UI is bad on the device, but after I could load up effects from the computer, it really makes it worth it for me.
Oh, you were lost in the phantastic bike discussion and overread the Zoom discussion?
Reread the thread and skip the bike stuff (for now).
The Zoom is a hardware effects pedal that gives you more than the simple sound that comes from your bass. You can get all kinds of distortions, delay, and cab (= speaker/amp) simulation from that.
It is “tactile”, so it has the knob (giggle) and you can modify the presets. But you can’t record!
More traditional bass guitarists like it - but if you are from the future (like me ^^), you will prefer an audio interface and software effects … as long as you do stuff at home.!
If you are good enough for live or a band, I would get pedals too. Software can be unreliable and pushing notebook buttons on stage is awkward!
