EXCELLENT question lol.
But, although it’s safe to say I am very influenced by Phil, I left the mirrored pickguard to him.
Having said that, I did order a blacked out pickguard (as well as the traditional black 3 ply) as a bit of a nod to him.
I know what you mean. After seeing Fender’s tribute (and regaining consciousness from the extreme sticker shock) I built a “tribute” of my own from a mim precision. It turned out nice; it looks the part, plays and sounds really good. Still, I somehow just don’t feel cool enough to rock that pickguard.

I had a similar inkling… but as you said, I don’t think I’ve got enough swagger to use a mirrored pickguard lol
