Introduce Yourself! (2018-2022)

Thanks for your welcome reply. I missed it last year somehow. :frowning: I was recently struggling with one of your older videos… I sent a note to the forum and got an immediate response from fellow bassbuzz member. I will check in more often. Thanks a million.

There are more European newbies around here then you might expect  We could host such event here in Maastricht, the Netherlands. As well as in Germany, depending on who would like to join. Might be able to arrange sleeping places as well, as it would most likely be a two or three day setting, if it’s up to me  :stadium: :headphones: :guitar:

My name is Ulysses, retire Navy. But still working and I love the song of a bass. Bass is the soul of music. And I am a soul Man! I was trying to do this on my own but it seem like it’s taking to long to learn I just pick up a bass early part of this year 2020. I have the top part of the neck down and I know some of the notes on the staff but I am not making any music yet. And like the O’Jays would say (I love Music). I have been watching you on YouTube for a while now, so I join the team.

Welcome @qixotic! I can’t wait to grow up, period. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome @Cdecoteau ! I hear ya about the right-handedness bias in the course, I plan to fix that someday. I’ve switched to lefty-friendly terminology in more recent videos!

Welcome @Iamapinepig good luck with Billie Jean day! Maybe try it with the cat off your shoulders if you’re having trouble.

Greetings from a seasoned-citizen in Florida

Started looking for a new hobby when I gave up riding motorcycles. (I like pizza but not fond of becoming a street pizza…FL remember.) I took up scuba and have progressed into tech diving and closed circuit rebreathers. Looking forward to getting full cave certified next year
I stumbled on a Davie 504 video and it rekindled an interest in Bass. I sang in a band in the late 70s but the only real talent I had was getting hot girls up on stage with us. (dancing, back up singing, playing the tambourine etc.)
I fooled around with all the free lessons on YouTube until I decided to sign up with Josh.
I really like his approach and style. Hope to be jamming at the old folks home eventually. The only drawback is when I invite the hotties on stage they might break a hip.

Welp, here goes. Did 4 years of band in high school (trumpet) so my musical knowledge is decent. Always wanted to play bass but I did go a public school so they couldn’t really spare resources to teach someone from scratch, they always picked someone who had basic knowledge.

So fast forward to me being 28 and lockdowns and I decided why the hell not start now. Mainly I’ve been using rocksmith to learn which is nice for learning songs but I feel like the thing I’m lacking is just exercises to do daily to improve my technique. I do have an Amp which makes thing easier and I’ve been playing scales but that really only goes so far i suppose.

Anways, thats about it.
