Hi I’m Kim. I have a Fender Jazz bass and I have had it for a few years. My husband bought if for me (he’s a touring musician, at least pre covid!) I had taught my self a bit and I learned to sight read music in school as a kid but I never progressed with my bass. I decided recently to pick it up and get busy! I found Josh on Youtube and my husband and I both think the videos are great. I am recording video of my progress (it’s been 4 days on the hardcore plan) but things are starting to click in my head! My husband’s band does a cruise every year and I want to be ready to sit in on a couple songs for next years cruise! I am 57 and I have been a band wife for almost 30 years and it would be amazing to play with my drummer husband :grinning:

Welcome aboard, Kim @kago429 . . .

Good combo of a Fender J-bass and drums, too! You and your hubby could make a great team practicing together

Cheers
Joe

Welcome @kago429

Both Josh and Mark Smith have done work on cruises, and in fact, that is how they know each other.

Mark has an entire blog on his site (TalkingBass) devoted to his days working the cruise ships.

I’ve seen Josh’s videos from while he was on the ship but I didn’t know he met Mark there, interesting!

Howdy. I’m Jeff. I’m a 47 year old Special Education teacher in Maryland. For most of my life, I never considered myself someone with musical talent so I never went much further than being able to strum out some guitar chords. I have always loved bands that had solid bassists(Tool, Faith No More, a lot of Motown) so I decided to jump in and just buy a bass(I started with a Squier Bronco.) I took the B2B course about 3 months ago and it was great. So helpful! It’s helped me to practice every day and now I switch between the Bronco and a Schecter Stiletto-4. I have been reading the forums for a while but finally wanted to say hey. So hey, everybody. Thanks for making this a fun place to hang out.

Welcome @etboo111 @kago429 @maria_c @SarcasticBear. @kago429 I’m doing the hardcore plan as well (I’m on day 9). @maria_c good luck with Module 4. I finished it but Billie Jean is still very much a work in progress–took me two days just to muddle through the slow workout.

Billie Jean is such an interesting one. It seems pretty simple on its face but the speed and repetition of it make it tricky for me. I have been able to get the rhythm of it but after about 2 minutes of the song, my fingers just decide they’ve had enough.

Hi everyone!

I’m Andrew, and I used to play bass when I was younger. I didn’t put much effort into it, or educate myself on the instrument or music other than the bare minimum to do rockstar stuff with my friends, which was very fun, I must admit.

Now at 35, I’ve fallen in love with the thing after picking it up again this year. The problem is that I didn’t know where to start at getting a functional practice going, and B2B very much seems like it’s going to help. Had a blast with the 1st module today, can’t wait to keep going!

I love the bite-size courses. I help run a brewhouse for a living and my shifts are often erratic or split up, so it’s great if I have 20 minutes or 2 hours to sit.

Looking forward to hanging out and jamming!
