Introduce Yourself! (2018-2022)

I am Eddie Jones from Sylacauga AL. I am a fat, 58 year old hack guitar player new to the bottom end. I have an LTD B-50 FM with a Peavey bass amp for the moment.

Yay, awesome @Jbassist284 What I’m discovering is that when I jam with the fam it’s easy to “communicate” because we already know each other. Have you and your sis experienced that yet? My son got rocksmith for guitar and that’s pretty fun.

Welcome @EddieJones!

I’ve only been here a few weeks so far but I think you’ll find that none of us care about looks, age, or why it took some of us so stinking long to get here. Rather, I think the idea is to simply play bass and have a good time. Enjoy it!

Enjoy the moment! It won’t last… Please see the GAS thread for reference. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Niether of us know much about music but it wasn’t long before I learned Seven Nation Army from her and she learned Stand By Me from me. So in a way we do easily communicate.

Thanks for the welcome. A little more about me. Ex-narcotics officer (1980’s). Marine vet. Been in the car business for 32+ years. Never quite got guitar but when I picked up the bass, everything finally clicked. Fingers knew what to do, brain knew the intervals, floating thumb technique was easy. I still got a ways to go but I can actually play along to songs by ear which I could never do with guitar. As a matter of fact I am going to trade a Fender Nashville Telecaster for a better bass as GAS has struck.

Thank you for that

Thank you for your service. Army vet here

That’s how I’ve been playing right from the start. Floating thumb is an awesome technique, once you get it down. It fits right in with my unconventional style of bass playing, but then I’m a very unconventional person.

I think you and I are going to get on quite well here. :smiley_cat:

Definitely… And I have got where I can alternate pluck @ 200 bpm (same string) without my fingers getting tangled up. I should have done this years ago.

Quietly backing out of the room now…

Thanks

Love Tele’s, but want a bass version, like G&L ASAT

My dream bass is a Warwick Thumb. But would love a Tele bass also
