Hello everyone! My name is Matthew and I am a bass newbie after playing a bit of electric guitar. I am currently on the Billie Jean module and I mostly listen to Japanese rock/pop/jazz and anything in between. My bass is the Squier Classic Vibe Jazz bass. Despite what a lot of people say, I think starting on bass is as difficult as on the guitar, as your mistakes are much more noticeable lol. Will look forward to playing more bass!

Welcome @Scansy ! I love that your intro post says you are on the Billie Jean module, because I know a heap of us reading that have just nodded sagely and sympathetically. Have fun!

Welcome @Scansy .
I played guitar a little too. But it was 20 plus years before I picked up bass.

I believe it helped me very much, and I progressed ratherquickly with bass.

I actually wanted to play bass way back when, but my best friend who was left handed bought a bass before me, so I picked up guitar then so we could play together.

Many years later when deciding to pick up an instrument again, I went with bass and am so so so happy I made that choice, the right one.

Again welcome, I would be interested to hear how you progress, and if you think the little guitar has helped you move along quicker then expected as well.

Thanks for sharing! And I do think having a bit of guitar experience made learning bass much quicker. Not only in terms of familiarity with the instrument (fretting, tuning, pick-ups, sliding, etc.) but also in music theory as well (pitch of the strings, common patterns, chords).

I was able to speed through the first few modules because of this, but I think string crossing will take significantly more time than the previous modules. I can’t wait to try Billie Jean
