Hello all newcomers.

We here at the forum hold a very informal “live hang” over Zoom that started in covid and has continued on as a place to chat, meet, learn and make new friendships.
The next hang is tomorrow Sunday (Monday if you are down under or in asia).

The hangs are open to everyone, see this link for details…

@kosako Cool to hear about your little one. :hugs:

With the high notes, I was referring to the fact that even the lowest male voices are somewhere above the 7th fret E on the bass guitar. You can check out Wikipedia for that.

You can basically tune your voice to the reference notes, provided you go into the right register/position on your bass.

Cheers,
Antonio

I’m Bruce, 52 years old. I started playing bass during Covid shutdown with Youcision. Got fairly decent. I was also going to school at that time and finished that last year. While finishing school, I quit playing and I’m starting over with these lessons.

Hi I’m Mike and I’m new to playing bass and new to this forum (feels like the start of a Bassist Anonymous session). I’m 66 and live in the Highlands of Scotland and have been meaning to get into bass for years now. Finally bought an ‘electro acoustic’ Fender CB60SCE in the spring which has a lovely sound but needed some work doing on it as the action was way too high. Whilst I do love it I have developed arthritis in my pinky fretting finger which was giving some serious pain so more recently I have picked up an Ibanez SRMD200D which is much easier on the fingers. Both are medium scale 32" instruments as my old fingers struggled to make the stretches and with my pinky on the way out that’s not going to get any easier.

I’m currently quite pleased with my progress doing some on line courses at TalkingBass and, with the arrival of the Ibanez, going down a bit of a rabbit hole of gear purchases. Pedals come next…

Joined this forum as my searches for best gear choices kept taking into these pages.
