Hi @StevFargan Looks like you share my other great passion. I spend 3 months every winter in Chamonix doing ski mountaineering!

Yes Iā€™ve done that course. Iā€™m now working my through the Groove Training Vol 1 course. Both have been great so far. So much to learn. Always something new!

Yes, I do share a passion for skiingā€¦ I actually ski year-round. Iā€™m at 241 consecutive months. (You can see some of my post-season adventures at https://patchskiing.net )
Chamonix is high on my ski to-do list. My friend Tom has done both guiding and patrolling in and around that area.
Do you get to do much skiing in Scotland? (My friend Helen actually skied 120 concecutive months in Scotland.)
Let it snow!

Hi everybody. Iā€™m Jack. Iā€™m seventeen and I started playing bass about a month ago. Iā€™ve already bee playing piano since I was a kid so moving to bass wasnā€™t as hard as I thought it would be. I love your course so far Josh.

Sadly not so much now as we just donā€™t get as much snow as we used to. Strangely the one recent year when I couldnā€™t go to Chamonix (closed due to Covid) was one of the best seasons in years and I actually got a good bit done in Scotland; I have some good ski mountains very close to where I live. But I started doing the seasons in Chamonix simply because it has become so unreliable at home. You should get yourself over to Chamonix, with a cable car taking you to 3800m access to the high mountains doesnā€™t get much easier!

Your patch skiing reminds me of our typical winter season Scottish skiing. Thereā€™s a real art to skiing heather! But I guess weā€™re drifting off the topic of this site :joy: :skier: :guitar:

I learnt to ski at the Lecht (in the military) in the early 90ā€™s. Miserable, miserable weather. But it must have sparked something, because it became a job and then a reason to move to Canada. Funny how these things work out. If I had to leave Canada then Iā€™d happily move to Scotland. Welcome @HighlandBass

Ah now thatā€™s the big downside of skiing Europe (including Scotland), we rarely get powder conditions as good as that! I learnt to ski in Scotland when weather/conditions were too bad for ice climbing, so know exactly what you mean about the bad weather! I do still go touring near Lecht on occasions.

Since youā€™ve flashed some ski porn, I thought Iā€™d just bung up a couple then I promise Iā€™ll focus on bass playing :joy:

Yes, but it is hard not to be drawn to snow drifts at times @HighlandBass @Barney and others. Iā€™ll try to make a tangential connection to skiing, snow, music, and bass. My passion for skiing fueled composing the 12-part Snowpeggio Suite on my sixth solo album, Depth of Feel. Each part is named after snow conditions. Some parts even have a good bass sound, albeit they are played using a keyboard. Iā€™ll copy this post and paste it over on the Post your original songs thread ( Post your original songs/compositions! - #1076 by StevFargan ) along with music video links and a few more details.
