Happy day after Thanksgiving all…Been a musician since about 90’. Self taught guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele…picked up a bass 3-4 years ago and thought it was fun but I was missing something. Well the something hit me about 2 months ago when I kept looking at it and finally really dove into it… I never picked up that over all these years the rhythm sounds I get hooked on where the bass players. So forward to 2 weeks ago and I stumbled on this site…lets just say I am looking to drop my beginner bass (Ibenez GIO) to something else…seeing the videos on the Yamaha I might be looking to get something in the YAMAHA TRBX series…Happy holidays and hope you’re all well!
Welcome, @snowdog. Glad you’re here. If you haven’t already, strongly consider signing up for the Beginner to Badass course. It is the best bass investment you’ll ever make. While B2B is the best beginner course out there, make no mistake: it contains tons of invaluable info for any level of player, from total newbie to anyone with some previous experience. The fundamentals are key to playing anything, so it’s best to know and practice them often. Enjoy!

Hi, lovely to meet you all! My name is Sam and I’m a girl in her early 40s from London in the UK. I haven’t played bass since I was at university (when I had to sell my bass and amp for book money for my Master’s!). I found a plectrum when I was tidying up a few weeks ago from when I used to play, and let’s just say it planted a seed and reminded me of how much I used to love playing. I did years of piano and music theory at school but it’s great being able to play an instrument you actually wanted to play!
I stumbled across Josh’s videos on YouTube and will be signing up for his course in the new year.
My shiny new Yamaha and amp arrived yesterday and as you can see from my post in the Techniques section, I’m already getting a bit frustrated that I can’t channel the 20 year old Sam back! She’s in here somewhere
Welcome @canSambass !
