Welcome @dermot_jones !
Welcome
Hi everyone,
Iām Emily. I played music a lot when I was little and had self taught myself the bass when I was at uni. Now Iām coming back to it after a break of about 15 years and having fun reminding myself how to read music and tabs and remember how to play! Itās slow going at the moment but Iām loving the process.
Just treated myself to a new bass just to give me the motivation to keep trying - it doesnāt come as easily as it did when I was regularly playing other instruments! Iāve been re learning with the course for the past month or so and just discovered the forum.
Few other things about me, I love watersports (I kayak and SUP) and I also spend a lot of time doing aerial activities like trapeze and hoop. Adding in the bass playing is great as I work from home so can have quick guitar breaks in between meetings!
I also love music and am looking forward to be playing lots of ska inspired tracks.
I got excited for a moment: I thought Kyle Gass had joined the dark side. Next itāll be Jables.

@Emily_bat Welcome and have fun.
Great to have you here @Emily_bat
Welcome, @Emily_bat. Glad youāre here. Water, air, and bass. Sounds like youāre mastering the three core elements of the universe. Enjoy the lessons!
Am I posting this in the right way? In the right place? Who knows? Not I.
Iām Han. I started learning bass about four years ago (even bought B2B all that way back) and Iām still startingā¦ Procrastination is my most practiced art.
So today Iāve decided to work through the 17 point checklist from Joshās Are you an Intermediate Bassist vid and BE CONSISTENT, DAMNIT. Iām groovy with five of the points so far (tuning, money notes, four finger fretting, basic rhythms, muting) so Iām something% in.
BAM! This time next year, I wonāt still be starting to play bass!
Welcome, @Hanhanhan. Glad youāre here. From your description, it sounds like you are firmly in the beginner category, but thatās totally fine. Embrace it. And embrace Joshās great B2B course. Like, truly embrace it. The lessons are easy to follow, with each containing precious nuggets of technique and theory; not to mention the groovy grooves you get to learn along the way. In short, itās a hell of a lot of fun! All you have to do is spend a little time in it every day and youāll be a hungry intermediate player in no time. Enjoy!
Welcome @Hanhanhan !
Hi @MikeC . Yeah I did actually follow Beginner to Badass way back when and floundered (and had shoulder injuries) ever since! Iām going through it again now and adding the skills from the 17 points into my schedule. I still have the shoulder and neck issues so the going is slow but itās goingā¦
Hi @JerryP ! Thanks. Nice to (virtually) meet you!
