Welcome @Miked
@Miked Welcome Aboard. Always a fan of the Jaguar. Enjoy the journey here
Great to have you here @Miked
Welcome @Miked
Have fun!
Welcome @Miked !
Hello-my name is Chris. I was inspired to play bass in the 80’s by Steve Harris of Iron Maiden and Cliff of Metallica. Played in high school but then life happened and had to leave it behind for about 35 years. Picked it back up in 2022-bought some lessons from Talking Bass-good stuff-but I like and prefer the regiment Josh uses. I play because I love music-actually the same 80’s music hahaha, for de-stressing after work, and I like music theory and applying it to the fretboard. I also love getting better and better. This forum is enjoyable and the experience you all share is much appreciated-so thank you all-and Josh-in advance. See you around.
Welcome @cdubs ! Really glad you are here!
Welcome @cdubs
Welcome, @cdubs. Glad you’re here. Josh makes the fundamentals fun. Enjoy!
Great to have you here @cdubs
Welcome @cdubs
Have fun!
Welcome Miked! Josh’s fun youtube videos are what brought me here as well. So much of the content in freebie land seemed either dry, over my head or so full of pushing to buy; finding Josh has been a breath of fresh air in this journey. Hope to see you around in the lesson threads Miked.
Welcome cdubs! I’m another big cliff fan; that early metallica music was some of my first exposure to rock and roll and still up there in my favorites. I hope to see you around the forums, discord and lesson discussions.
Welcome AnickB! Your playing experiences sound interesting. It would be cool to hear more about the band you play in, type of music or any links if you’re comfortable sharing. Welcome and hope to see you around the discussions, discord, and all that jazz.
RIght on-Cliff introduced the world to main stream thrash metal with the Ride the Lightning album IMO. At least as much as thrash metal can be main stream anyway ![]()
In my experience most people don’t know the intro to For Whom the Bell Tolls is Cliff on the bass-which fascinates me.
Welcome @cdubs !
Back in high school I was in every possible music activity; senior band, jazz band and other alternative rock bands. Fast forward 20 years to this past summer… this guy walked into my shoppe saying he heard I played bass and asked if I would come jam with him and his drummer to see if I was a good fit. And I was! (I was so nervous!)
The guys are amazing. The guitarist/lead singer is also a solo recording artist. He has been playing for over 35 years. The drummer toured with JW Jones and opened shows for George Thorogood. I’m so thankful to be playing by their side and learning so much.
The band is called Big Mule. We only put this together a few months ago. There’s not many recordings out there right now but you can find us on IG or FB. We play mostly classic rock and some blues. CCR, Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison, The Doors, Albert King… just to name a few.
I still can’t believe all this happened in just the last 6 months. But I feel like I have to up my game though… which is why I ended up here on BassBuzz. A good refresher and an awesome community!
That’s badass already, @AnickB. Knock 'em dead.
Welcome @cdubs
Thanks @MikeC . This badass is a little bit rusty but getting there. ![]()
