There is a professional bass player that does play his bass on his shoulder. I wish I could remember his name. He was self taught and thought that was just how it was done.
I tried holding my jazz bass that way.
Do not reccomend.

hi all, I just wanted to introduce myself a sorta talk about why I chose to learn bass. my name is mari and im 21 from California, and i never really thought about playing an instrument in my life but my partner is a really good guitarist and said that bass might be a good outlet for me. so I bought a bass, its a squier jazz bass and im planing on upgrading the pick ups soon. I haven’t been practicing as much as I need to and im hoping being active in this forum will hold me accountable and make me improve. I hope I can make some friends along the way as well.

Great to have you here @mar2 !
I started on the same great bass and upgraded the pickups (and everything else just for kicks). I’ve got the Fender ‘61 Custom Shop pickups in mine and love them. Fralins are an excellent choice too. I have them in another bass. Loads to choose from. Have fun!

Welcome @mar2 ! You’ve chosen well. Not only are the lessons top-shelf, but the community here is great. Really great people here.
Hello all! I wanted to introduce myself,
I just started B2B this week (day 3 today). I’ve owned a bass in the past, about 20 years ago, but never learned it (or even played it, for that matter). Decided it is time to learn something new. So I rented a fender p 2 weeks back, and just bought a used Yamaha bbg4s ii yesterday. After a week or so of YouTube and free trial app courses saw @JoshFossgreen on yt and jumped in to B2B.
Looking forward to the ride
