Introduce Yourself! (2024)

@Gio Thank you very much for your answer, that’s very encouraging. :slight_smile: I’m a bit in the hurry to play with people.

@StevFargan @JerryP @TheMadBassist, @autumnsdad1990, @fennario Thanks ! :slight_smile:

@MikeC Thanks, I think I’ll definitely start the course very soon.

@ghost_note Hi ! That would be great ! What was the name of the band ? Jawbreaker progressively became one of my favorite band. Dear You is an album I started listening lately compared to the others, but it’s awesome. The song I tried is Want from Unfun (because I love the introduction bassline) using a video of someone doing a cover on youtube. If you have any tabs and are ok to share them, that would be awesome.

@howard Hello, glad we share interests in the same bands ! Actually I’m also into early/mid-80s for some bands/genre (I saw your great husker du cover), But didn’t want to make a longer presentation post that’s already too long ahah. To be honest your topic about amp and cab sim are one of the reason I’m here. You seems to be experienced in recording directly in DI, and I’m currently having some sound issues doing it so I’ll probably have some questions…

Hello there!

I’ve caught the bass bug at 45. I’ve become good friends with a band I’ve been following for 20+ years and this is the second time their bass player has inspired me to buy a bass. Maybe this time I’ll do something with that inspiration!

I grew up playing piano, then switched to drums in Jr High and played percussion (mostly mallet instruments) all through high school. I owned a kit for a while and have always been drawn to rhythm. I haven’t played an instrument seriously since I was 18 but in my 20s I did own an Ibanez GSR200 for a few years and attempted to learn guitar as well 20’s.

I love this instrument. I don’t know anyone to jam with, but I’m determined to learn anyways!

Hi guys, gretings from France!

French, 70 years “young”, piano 4 years as a kid, bass in a big jazz band in my 20’s for 5 years then moved away from Paris and dropped the bass, then took the cello for 20 years. Had to drop the cello last year because my right shoulder won’t let me hold the bow anymore and it really broke my heart.
So back to Bass this year for learning, playing mostly blues, clapton, eagles, etc. (on my '76 Ibanez P bass with DiMarzio 's), and hopefully BACH suites (on a 24 fretter I don’t have yet: Cort A4 Artisan wishfully or WarwickThumb, my wallet will tell me what to choose).

So not a beginner but still hoping to be a badass!

Started B2B because of Josh’s very pedagogic approach, very focused and I think I certainly have so much to learn from such a teacher.

Hi quenden,
been playing some of the BACH suites on the cello, so it helps, but most go up to the 24th.
Sarabande of the first suite is no so difficult and SO VERY WELL written. Mario D’Amato made a DVD, scores and tab, check his web site if you are interested.
