Thanks for the encouragement! I think it’s helping me progress faster than average. (Less than a month of bass, I started working on “Oye Como Va”, and my instructor is impressed with my ability to follow the rhythms and not rush the rests.)
Conversely, I think musicians - especially rhythm musicians - make great dancers too. Good listening and connecting skills.
I do like Trance too, wil downbeat (trip hop) there’s stuff like Portishead, Massive Attack, Air wtc. that do indeed have some juicy basslines to them.
I actually like a lot of trance and prog house. Especially prog house. I will defend Deadmau5 against the haters just because of Strobe, Raise Your Weapon, and HR 8938 Cephei.
And then there’s always older stuff like Underworld, who I would probably describe as all time faves.
Hey, I’m Dave, age 67 and never had a bass or any other guitar in my hands. Saw Josh’s YouTube feeebies and thought , why the hell not? So here we go. Picked up a gently used Squier Vintage Modified locally.
Since you asked the below, I think there’s no specific sub-forum for that. I think “because we’re simply all bassists.” Definitely try and pm people, I find that sometimes opens up really interesting and nice conversations.
