Hey everyone! I’m Alex! I’m 28 - I got my first bass for my birthday in mid-October, started B2B about a week later, and finished a few days ago; now I’m trying to figure out how to structure independent practice and trying not to let the executive function goblin in my brain get its hands on a regular guitar for at least another few months/until I get to a decent level with pick bass. I listen primarily to pop punk at this point, and to be honest pretty much 100% of the reason I started playing was Green Day basslines ![]()

Welcome @mcphee.sean And Happy Belated Birthday
And Welcome @orangepossum And Keep Practicing The Basics Before Jumping Into Technical Or Faster Baselines. I Fell Into The Same Dilemma Early On By Trying To Play Ear Catching Riff By The Police , Metallica , & Herbie Hancock. Sloppy Play Only Stifles Ya Down The Road. Start Slow , Understand Simple Patterns , And Faster Riffs Will Begin Falling Into Your Hands.
Enjoy The Journey You Two ,
Cheers

Welcome BassFriendss!!!
Hi everyone! Glad to join you all!
I’ve been playing bass, guitar, and keyboards for a while. I like to write and record originals, and have done a fair amount of gigging.
As far as styles - if it’s heavy and grooves, I usually like it
- progressive rock, hard rock, fusion, funk, blues.
Influences: Rush, Snarky Puppy, Yes, Muse, Van Halen, Radiohead, Genesis, Dave Matthews, Tori Amos, AC/DC, Steve Vai, Victor Wooten, Dennis Chambers, ZZ Top, Alanis Morrissette, Metallica, Dirty Loops.
Looking forward to chatting with you more ![]()
