Welcome @steve3 and enjoy!!!
Hey everyone, new to Bass here after VERY casually playing acoustic for 4-5 years and a little electric, super excited to start, been taking it slowly so far!
The reason I wanted to get into bass is because I saw Tetsuo Sakurai killing it on bass and now I wanna play like that.
Welcome, @mjylee776. Glad you’re here. Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
51 year old beginner bassist here. Played violin for 6 year in high school but it’s been a minute since that. During that sang in several of the schools choirs and played in the school orchestra. Never wanted to play the violin but did enjoy playing in a group, just not most of the music that we had to play ![]()
Been working through some issues with work stress and decided to reconnect with music as a way to help manage that. I’ve always loved the bass guitar so it seemed like a good choice (and I’ve never been a 6-string fan).
Started off with a cheap chinese made J bass and a pretty low powered amp to get me going and 5 weeks in I’m still playing and practicing every day and loving it. I know I’ve picked up some bad habits in that time and after watching one of Josh’s free videos (and experiencing just how quickly a simple exercise helped my fretting) I decided to jump on the course. It flows, it’s fun, and I love Josh’s ‘teach me while I don’t realise you’re teaching me’ style.
Looking forward to jamming with one of my good mates in the coming months and this seems like a great way to learn the skills I need to do it
JD

Hello, I’m Carey. I’m 56 now and I started out playing bass in a couple of one off talent shows in high school then switched to guitar. I’ve played guitar on and off since I was 17. I recently started geeking out on bass videos on YouTube and ran across BassBuzz. I just signed up for B2B and I’m looking forward to the second B.
My goal is to join (or start) a band soon and begin playing local gigs. I’m also learning to sing. My favorite bass player is Dug Pinnick with King’s X.
Welcome, @csteph7. Glad you’re here. The best time to learn bass is when you start. Enjoy the lessons!
