Hi, I’m Jeff. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 14. I’m 50 now. I’ve owned several basses throughout the years but only recently decided to really learn how to play bass. I have a Sire P5 and play out of a Fender Rumble 40. I just ordered a Fender player ii Precision. I’ve always been into old punk, ska, rocksteady and reggae but my tastes really run the spectrum.

My guitar playing ranks at about - I won’t dazzle anyone but at least my tone is good

My bass playing is yet to be determined

Welcome, @Froski. Glad you’re here. Your familiarity with a fretted instrument will come in handy, but if you really want to learn to play bass properly, there’s no better way than the Beginner to Badass course. Enjoy!

I will be doing exactly that

Welcome @Froski - enjoy the course. Once you get your Fender Player II it’ll be interesting to hear your comparison to the Sire P5.

Hi @TheMaartian, I’m from Darwin. It’s a bit cold in winter down in Alice, but the MTB trails are to die for.

You have good taste in music, my friend! In fact, this weekend, I am off to the 2025 Austin Reggae Festival!
I hope to hear plenty of all three.

Andrew.

Hi, I’m Dean.

Watched the BassBuzz YouTube channel for years but never been on the forums till now.

I play in a Scottish heavy rock / fuzz rock band called Earl of Hell. Things are going well and got our album out soon.

Started playing at around 15, self-taught minus a little schooling in my early 20’s. Used to play in 2 original bands of different genres - one band was more riff based and one was more chordal and harmony based so did a lot of growing as a player in that time.
Current band have had some great opportunities and acted as a backing band for a headliner for a tour, so learnt there as well.

Currently dealing with what appears to be a nerve problem in my left shoulder. Right under the bass strap :+1:t2: woo hoo. Been pushing through rehearsals and gigs, some are better than others. I suppose I’ll detail the health stuff elsewhere.

I pop up in other bass spaces now and then - won the In the Pocket podcast’s patreon giveaway last month, as an example - but I’m not in the habit of forum posting. Really should be as an active player eh.

Been going down the GAS route for a few years but I’m finally happy with my rig and pedalboard. For at least a few months  I’ll post them later.

Cheers all.
