Hi Everyone, I am new to this. Have been thinking about learning bass for a long time. I am 54. My son is the musician. Last time I played my acoustic guitar was 35 years ago. We did not want to spend too much money on e-guitars so after many hours on Youtube, eBay etc we built a couple of guitars from bits a pieces we sourced online. Nothing fancy but they work. This gave me the idea to build a P Bass and give it a go. Found BassBuzz by chance. In the middle of Module 2 and loving it! I am actually quite excited about starting!

Hello everyone!

I’m so happy I’ve found this community and Josh’s amazing course! I properly started practising in January, when I finally managed to convince my dad that it’s a great idea to borrow me one of his basses  (Took me a bunch of years, but here we go! :D)

Basically coming from “the other end” of the spectrum as a singer, filling the harmony-gap with keys, I’m now finally reaching the bottom end and I’m loving it! I’ve always been a huge rhythm nerd and there’s nothing as satisfying for me as really locking in with the drums. It’s also such a different role in a band, which I appreciate so much: not having to entertain the crowd and being the center of attention, but just chilling with your drumming buddy in the background  (although I also can’t help but sing anyways…) I also love this community here and how respectful and supporting everyone is <3 Can’t wait to connect more!

Right now I’m in module 5 and played my very first jam session yesterday. I was nervous (even though the stage is basically my natural habitat  – kinda cool to start from scratch again) but I was also excited and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! Right now I’m trying to memorise all the notes on the fretboard and get my head around being able to play what I’m hearing in my head more. Really wanna play more sessions and become good at improvising and potentially also re-harmonising in the future. (That one is probably a long way to go xD but you gotta have dreams…)

So yeah! Super grateful to be part of this community now and excited for the journey! Here’s a picture of my little baby “Betty” and a weird one of excited me.

All the best from Germany and Vienna and have a great time passing! <3

Welcome. Thanks @Zeverynth. Yes it is. I got the body and neck as unfinished parts. Painted, assembled and set it up myself. Father/son project thanks to YouTube!
