Hi and welcome along @hyrax and @smokeshopsentertainm !
Hi everyone, I’m QuattroCorde from The Netherlands.
Thirty years ago, when I was in my early twenties, I taught myself to play three chords on an old acoustic guitar. I had always listened to a lot of music, but I had never made any myself. My best friend was also trying to learn guitar, and his hands turned out to be much more flexible. I was able to borrow an old (incredibly heavy!) bass guitar, and I actually liked it better. And that’s how we started a little band. Another friend was willing to give drumming a try, and yet another friend was brave enough to sing.
We were so bad that we couldn’t play a single existing song, so the guitarist and I ended up having to compose our own music. That also gave us the chance to write our own lyrics, and we had a lot to express. We kept it up for about two years, without any prior knowledge or lessons, and the rehearsal sessions were fantastic. In the end, we had enough songs to fill a CD, but we never recorded anything and never performed in front of an audience.
But then we had to graduate, find jobs, raise children, and unfortunately there was no more time for making music. The instruments and amps were sold or returned to the people we had borrowed them from. We all stopped making music and spread out across the world because of work, and sadly, we lost touch.
These days, I’m at home alone and going through a rehabilitation process. I don’t know how much I’ll eventually be able to do again, but right now things are looking up. I can now manage a mouse and keyboard fairly well again, and I was wondering what else I might still be able to do with my hands. After a lot of thought, I ordered a cheap bass guitar a few weeks ago. And it’s actually going pretty well. Maybe I’ll finally manage to learn how to play some real songs over the coming months!
Welcome, @QuattroCorde. Glad you’re here. There are several of us here who have previously played bass in bands. It’s sure great to experience that feel and sound again. Strap up, grab your bass, and enjoy!

Welcome along @QuattroCorde !
Hi from sunny Scotland (actually, it has been sunny and warm for a while which is unusual!).
I am in my 50’s and have been playing around the edges of guitars for ages, a few disastrous lessons a long time ago put me off but I’m back after my daughter started playing bass at school so I thought I’d have a go.
Super impressed with the BassBuzz course, technically beautiful, easy to follow and full of character, and that’s just Josh!
When I’m not practicing I’m playing boardgames, riding a motorbike and running on the trails in the Scottish hills.
Hope everyone is safe and playing well.
Darren
