Introduce Yourself! (2026)

Hi im KK. Im 68 and started playing the bass about 2 years ago. I also play the ukulele and started doing that about 8 years ago after I retired. I belong to the Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra and one a friend from the group taught me how to play. My teacher taught me what I needed to improvise to almost anysong, but I want to also be able to play written music. And sadly, my teacher passed away the end of last year. I can read music from my high school band days (clarinet). One of the things I love about this course (I’m in the final section) is that even at the very beginning when I knew much of what Josh was teaching, I still learned something with every lesson. Now I am getting to the point where I can play more of the famous riffs and my improvising is improving. I am excited to keep learing and keep my arthritic fingers moving.

Hi everyone. :waving_hand:

My name is Dan and I’m 36 and from Cambridgeshire in the U.K.

I decided to try to learn bass guitar after many years of telling myself ‘I am not a musician’, and I then saw the Bassbuzz videos on YouTube and thought it seemed like a genuine way for me to start learning.

I love post-punk, punk and goth rock music and have dreams of one day being able to play along to one of The cure’s (My favorite band is The cure) albums from start to finish.

My bass influences are: Simon Gallup, Patricia Morrison and Peter Hook.

I have no musical experience other than messing around with some synthesizers as a moody teenager, and I once held a bass guitar and pretended to be in a band for ‘the look’ .

I have just been seriously humbled by Billie Jean, but from what I have read in the forums it seems to be a rite of passage here, and I will gradually keep practicing it, until I have it down.:flexed_biceps:

So, once again, hello everyone.

Hi! Excellent taste in music there. And hey, apparently Hooky didn’t even know what a bass was when he started.

3 great bassists. Throw David J and Tina Weymouth on there and thats probably my top 5.
