Hey ALL! Glad to be here! My name is Lance and all though I am fairly new to the bass I’m not new to reading, playing and singing music. I played the drums as a kid/teen, sang in the choir all through school as well as played the sax, and clarinet. I picked up the bass back in 2008 and taught myself how to play a handful of songs via tabs. A few years later I sold my bass, amp and cabinet and bought a road bike for exercise. In 2022 I bought an acoustic bass and picked up from where I left off 10 years prior. Still teaching myself along the way…then I heard a bassist play a bass like I had never heard before…Charles Berthoud. I was blown away and had never heard such awesome tunes come from a bass. I decided that I wanted to learn the bass the proper way and as I did some research on the internet I found this guy “Josh Fossgreen”
. As I listened to his youtube posts, I was impressed with his knowledge and skills. Earlier I had made the decision to purchase Charles Berthoud’s lesson package but I felt that Josh’s method of teaching was more in line with my way of learning. So I made the decision to purchase Josh’s Beginner to Badass package I am very glad I did. Although the first 5 Modules were a little slow for me I decided to follow Josh’s council to go through each lesson and not to skip forward. I have to admit, I have learned a lot by doing so. I’m currently in Module 8 and love learning proper fingering, muting, theory, and all that he has to offer. My desire is to learn the proper way so that I can better my techniques and eventually become more of a soloist, more for myself than anything. I know this will take time and effort, all of which I am willing to give. I’m 56 and I plan on making this a lifelong hobby and possibly play in a few bands along the way, after all, I do live in Branson, MO where that is a high possibility.
It’s great to be here and I look to learn from each of you!
