I got into a fight with some punk outside the GC in Mission Viejo. I was in line, and when I got to the front of the line, I was 6 feet from him, I was more then 6 feet from the entrance, and the people behind me, were with me, and the rest of the people were at least 6 feet back.
He told me to put my mask on, I said I will before I go to the store, he said, no you need to put it on now, I looked at the little twig of a punk and took a deep breath, and put it on, with my nose out. I was wearing sunglasess and if I cover my nose, the steam goes up and fogs the glasses so I can’ see anything.
That was not enough for him, and he told me if I didn’t wear my mask right I couldn’t go in the store.
I again told him when I am going into the store I will put my mask on right.
He said “if you don’t wear it right you have to get out of line”
Then I walked over and laid him out, busted his nose, blood everywhere, cops on the way…Then I awoke from my little dream there and asked him, “so if I am going to go in there abd buy a $1200 bass off the wall, you are not gonna let me in cuz I am not covering my nose”
Then this little A-HOLE maed a scene out of it “Yes, if it will save every person here, I wouldn’t let you in the store if you were gonna spend a million dollars”
" I told him, if I walked away from a million dollar deal cuz of your little power trip, the owners of GC would not only fire you, they would sue your ass for lost income, but since it makes you feel like a bad ass, and I need to go in there, I will put it up"
Stared him down the rest of the time I was in l ine, he wouldn’t look at me.
And the funny thing is, I did not need to go in the sore, my friend did, but I did not NEED to.
However, a few days before this, I was at the store and bought a BASS from them, my Ray4, cuz they had the right color.
It was in a box in the back, not on the rack, and while I was waiting for them to bring it out from the back, I was looking at the basses on the wall.
there was an ESP LTD B-155, like mine, but different color. It was one of the used basses. I went over and fliped the nobs, and one of them was loos and fell on the ground. I picked it up, with every intention to give it to the employee that was getting my bass. The first one he brought out was the wrong color, then the 2nd he brought out was the wrong color, not til the third try was the color right.
Note: it was not his fault, they shipped 2 basses in the wrong box, the box clearly said BLUE, but BLACK basses were inside.
So, after getting the right bass, and checking it out, and going up to pay for it, I had left the nob in my pocket and forgot about it.
So, my reason to go in the store was to return the nob, so they could put it on the bass, werer it belonged, and not get stuck trying to sell the bass with missing nobs.
But, cuz of that little twig of a punk (actyally, he is no punk, he is the opposite of punk) , so twig of a little D head, A hole, MF’n Prick, I will not go back to that store ever, if only to protect myself from knocking him out and going to jail.
Musicians Friend gives good discounts if you call and talk to somebody. If sweetwater gives you the same that is great, but you could give Musicians Friend a call and see what they might do for you. Unless you don’t want GC to get a dime from you ever again, I understand that.
Does Sweetwater give deals if you call and ask for them?
Also, Sweetwater can PLEK the bass for you befofre they ship. The PLEK would come with a full set up, and they would put whatever strings you were gonna put on it during the set up.
I can’t say for sure if a BRAND NEW Bass would need a plek, but I would be more inclined to think a brand new expensive bass, like MM’s of FENDER MIA’s and things of this nature would not need a PLEK when brand new, but the lower pirced ones, that sometimes do have fret issues out of the box, might benefit from one. You would haev to talk to your rep about it and see what they say about doing it.
