I think we also agree to be respectful towards each other. Let’s face it, some of the options expressed would be raging infernos elsewhere.
Very true.
I understand why a lot of people like them, and it is mostly folks that were of age when G&R were massively popular. I wasn’t even born when Appetite for Destruction came out so (thankfully) I missed out on the 80’s rock scene. Tons of great bands came out of the 80’s but I would argue so did some of the worst bands. The entire glam rock scene is repulsive to me and I can’t stand any of what I call “hair bands”. I grew up in Seattle and was very exposed to the grunge scene which I suppose is why I have such love for bands like Soundgarden and Alice In Chains.
The best forum on the internet, this place.
U2 and Maroon five.
Some of the songs are catchy but don’t care much about the band. The u2 auto download to my phone just did it. I tried to delete them several times but it’s still there. I’m thinking about changing Apple for rent on my phone, lol.
Agreed, although to paraphrase an early comment you made to this thread, that certainly wasn’t my original intent. I had a very specific scenario in mind when I posted: a band or musician that you (the collective “you”) truly respect for various reasons, but simply don’t enjoy listening to. It pretty quickly devolved to “popular musicians/bands you don’t like”. Which is my own fault by using the term “can’t stand”
(and I was patting myself on the back at the time for not using the even worse term “hate”). That’s what I get for not spending the extra minute or two to craft a topic title that moreaccurately summarized my question.
But the thread has still turned out to be entertaining and thought provoking. It’s interesting (and probably healthy) to be reminded that nobody is loved by everybody. I actually get a kick out of seeing people declare that they don’t like pioneers and gods of my youth. And some of the comments have been pretty funny.
I agree. It has been interesting to hear what Buzzers like, or not.
The fuckin’ Eagles, man.
Here’s one few will agree with:
Van Halen. Never liked them outside of a couple songs (mainly “Ain’t talkin bout love”).
Respect the hell out of the talent, just don’t like the music.
I’m with you on Van Halen.
Eddie changed how the guitar was played. Generational musician. But not a big fan of the music
That’s like my favorite song of theirs - had it playing while I did my response. too funny
Love it.
And Little Guitars.
And a bunch of oddball others but those two - magic!
Yeah, music either hits you, or it don’t.
Same as it ever was.
No love for Happy Trails @howard
