Spray paint.
That vertical arrangement is better than a traditional pedalboard for a desktop.
You beat me to it! I was going to suggest the same thing. A can of Krylon in whatever colour you like will straighten that out pretty quick.
That is the plan
I considered HX Stomp for that very reason.
I decided I wanted simplicity now. Too many options in the digital multi-effect pedal would be just another distractor for me. I need/want more focus
Vertical pedal solution is a great idea. I don’t like this execution of the idea, though (i.e. chunky wooden block).
This one looks interesting and is quite cheap:

Edit:
I ordered it. Will let you know how it fits on my desk.
There you go:
Vertical pedalboard - GoXLR DESK STAND
It is heavy, solid, stable and rubberized. Looks good.
I love the TS-9B, I use a regular TS-9 and , for me they are kind alike. With a really low gain, it’s like a Booster
Tube Screamers are classics, yeah.
It works amazing well for overdriving your preamp, especially if they have a drive too.
This is such a fun thread to read back. It fills my heart with joy to see that we all started as pedal newbs (still a lot of great advice)
Yes they are, I still use mine with my electric guitar and my Bass too! My TS-9 will stay on my pedalboard forever.
@Lanny what’s up with this cool pedalboard I hadn’t heard anything about?
Did you replace the Radial DI with the Ampeg SCR-DI?
Good grab on that OCD since Fulltone has decided to close down.
Still got my Radial DI that I use when I just need a simple DI to run into a mixing board/sound system… Love the Ampeg pre-amp though and got use to it playing in the bands…. I use to use the OCD when I played my Tele, and figured I’d give it a go in the chain with my bass - really cool!! Who woulda thought??.. Who says a guitar pedal don’t work with bass??..??.. Works great for me - especially when I wanna mix shit up a bit…. Gives me some versatility when I wanna kick things into high gear…. I have the overdrive on the Ampeg set so that it’s not too overpowering, and on some tunes I will kick it off and kick in the OCD…. Other times I will have them both kicked on (heavy rock, high distortion)…. All fun!!
Keep On Thumpin’!
Lanny
Nice! I thought the SCR-DI was actually quite good except I hated the scrambler for distortion. That was the only reason I sold it though, the rest of it was great. If you don’t use the scrambler it’s a nice preamp with SVT-style EQ controls. Love the ultra-lo and ultra-hi.
It took a lot of messing around with the settings to get it just right for me. I didn’t use it much in the beginning for the same reason you mentioned, but after a lot of tweaking with the controls, I was able to come up with a good tone along with more of a heavier volume setting that I like to accentuate certain riffs in some of the songs I play…. The one that really distorts is the OCD, and as such don’t use it much and when I do it’s always on the low setting…. Running both the scrambler and the OCD at the same time makes for some really wild shit though!!.. I like using the Octavator pedal at times to give a bit of an echo effect, and am looking to add a chorus pedal at some point. I do use the compressor all the time, and the tuner is a must when playing on stage with a band…
Do you know which version of the OCD it is? Usually handwritten inside by the signature. I’ve had a couple and they each have a bit of a unique thing.
Version 1.4 Feb 22, 2011. #52295 ZW…
Where do you have that one in your signal chain? That particular version is a lot like certain fuzzes where it sounds better without any buffers before it.
Using it just before the Pre-Amp and Scrambler. Since I don’t play heavy rock, I have it set to LP with center tone, low volume, and high drive… I don’t use it like I use to when I played guitar, but it does help put a little dirt into the mix when I want it - mostly when I’m playing my SR500E strung with rounds…
I’ve been waiting for a pedal which is still a few months away, but I finally had the “kid next door” put my together last night ( I’m having him back for a little “tape straightening work” today… Hey! he was paid). The pedals are the Peterson 75th Anniversary Tuner, Source Audio Spectrum Envelope, Cali 76 Compressor, 3 Leaf Audio “Tim Lefebvre” Octabvre, and the 3 Leaf Audio Doom 2 Fuzz, on a Pedaltrain Classic 1 board. Something new to learn in addition to bass, but something I’ve always considered would be part of my bass playing toolbox.
