It is kinda funny, because last week I was trying to dial in some Gene Simmons grit.
The last time I did this on She, I went with the B7K instead of the VT Bass DI, to me it sounded closer/better. I was also trying to dial in some gritty Morphine stuff and was not finding the tone I wanted at all (why I have not recorded any yet). Both are SVT based.
To date I have used the VT Bass DI almost exclusively for the B-15N Motown stuff and a few other things that sound good with it, but not the SVT sounds. I actually started looking at the OE BassRig Vintage but did not buy it because of the omission of the B-15N bits.
So…dammit.
Deal alert - there will be a VT Bass DI for sale here in a few days maybe.
I have my eyes on this pedal too but wonder if it would be “better” than the Sansamp programmable bass driver di. Looking forward to hear from the first one to get it.
Yes. This was why I brought up the question. Most people talk about using the VT Bass DI to find either the SVT or B15 sound. It seems, with the SGT-DI, it comes down to the flip of a switch.
I’m going to out myself here and say I’m not real impressed with the more extreme examples of what this pedal does. It may be accurate for the sound it’s going for but I don’t think that’s the sound I’m interested in. I really like distortion on bass but those distortion sounds aren’t very pleasant to my ear.
It turns out, that’s not how the SVT/B15 switch works. It only effects the SGT circuit, but this could still be significant depending on how it functions with the gain turned down.
So, we only need to wait for people to upload their captures of the different SGT-DI settings to the ToneX repository and we are all set (Or, just the captures of the “real” stuff, of course!)
Can the ToneX download the Amplitube models via ToneNet? That would be just over the top.
Looking at the site it appears so, there are ToneX models for like 1100 amps and effects now. That’s awesome. This is exactly what I would have wanted from the Quad Cortex.
