Duesenberg Starplayer TV Mike Campbell bass. Besides sounding wonderful, the wife/boss bought for me and it is blue. The picture is off the web but mine looks just like it. Another interesting fact about the Duesenberg’s is they come with bandaids in the package you get in the case. For that time you play until your fingers bleed.
One bass to rule them all,
One bass to move them,
One bass to bring them all,
And in the mix to groove them
FGN mighty power
Only picture I have of it
Can I choose one bass guitar and still keep my electric upright bass?
If so, I would keep my Stingray 5 string and the EUB. If not, I would just keep the EUB.
Well done.
hunh. i remember when you first got the stingray and i asked what you thought and it seemed at the time that you were underwhelmed by it. glad you finally fell for her charms
This thread sucks. I’m absolutely torn between my p and j bass
Her charms are mainly that she’s my only 5 string, and if I only have one, I’d like it to be a fiver.
Aside from that, I do like her tone
@jclay Your Duesenberg is reminiscent of this example of the vintage car of the same name (at least in color):
My one bass to rule them all–my latest acquisition, the Warmoth P/J with SD 1/4 pounders. After a string change to DR Hi-Beams and a good setup, this thing can cover all bases. Plays like buttah, sounds wonderful, and looks good too. My 2nd would be the Ray34 with TI Jazz Rounds. It was a toss up between the two but had to go with the P/J because of the versatility.
It may seem an odd choice considering i have 2 basses I built plus the Ibanez SR370 active, but the Mikro is my travel bass and my go to at home nany times.
The manufacture took the name from the Duesenberg cars. The bass is assembled in Germany. The color scheme for my bass was modeled after the AC Cobra car made by Carroll Shelby. From what I have read the bass was going to be called the Shelby until Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers got involved. Just some trivia that I picked up along the way.
And man, ain’t some folks here got some nice choices. I’m kinda salivating over here.
Oh, wow, this looks like one of these tilt-shift photographies (“miniature world”)
You sure it’s a real bass??
not to me i love that bass
For a basic short scale bass, it’s really put together well and has a great sound.
This is like a bass porn thread of its own!
Beautiful stuff.
