BK, That capture is gorgeous! Love the colors and the stark tree breaking the scene up, contrasting with the perfect circles is great
Thank you, Jeanette!
Oh, I just adore woodworking, like to watch the folks on YT slap a hunk of wood on a lathe and see the transformation!
Alex_G I’d be interested in seeing your oil landscapes! I love Bob Ross, would watch him for hours! Did you know he was a drill sergeant? When he got out of the military he vowed not to yell at anyone again. Hence the soft voice. I had dabbled in his style in acrylic, years ago.
It sounds like you might be a candidate to give it a go yourself. There are clubs all over the country where you can try it out for free and see if it’s for you.
He’s a dog that thinks he’s a human, cat, my boss/supervisor no matter what hobby or project that I’m working on!!. In this case, my knife building hobby……
Bandsaw, check. Dual wheel bench grinder, check. TV and speakers? Ditto. All under careful supervision. I think you got the workshop all sewn up, @Lanny. I just don’t see a beer fridge, although the hooch on the rocks doesn’t escape my attention, so I guess the beer can be forgiven.
It’s just outside the shop at the pool bar @MC-Canadastan….
Whew! You are all set then
What are you using for a forge?
Griff has you covered Bill @Lanny ,
He is on point waiting for an opportunity
Cheers Brian
Well, Griff, he’s an adorable supervisor!
@NipperDog, There’s a teaching studio on the east coast, (if it’s still there) My focus right now is on the bass, although there’s an image of an aurora borealis painting in my floating about in my head right now
Actually @TNKA36 Brian, I have a container of dog treats that I keep on a shelf in my workshop desk that he likes to beg for… He sat up and was begging for one and I told him NO… Then he played down and gave me the cold shoulder because he was pissed off at me…
I’ve used several home made ones @Celticstar… but my go to is usually just fire bricks stacked up with a top and bottom and open at each end. One block has a hole drilled at an angle that I push my torch tip through. I’ve also used a long (3’) metal pipe that fits over one of my wife’s old hair dryers and use that set up open flame in my fire pit with some good hardwoods - kinda tricky, but still works. I typically use peanut oil as the quencher.
This blade however was one that one of my grandsons (he’s a welder for Caterpillar) brought to me to build a handle for…
Thanks for the answer.
I had an interest in smithing at one point but the costs and operating space, at that time, were not conducive to me continuing. I came to the conclusion that to continue I should purchase at least a decent forge and possibly a drop hammer. I still watch Forged in Fire on TV and it is amazing what those guys can accomplish.
I used my propane BBQ at one point but the results were not that great.
I always wanted to make a damascus blade.
I’m sure it’s best not to try to juggle too many new hobbies.
Enjoy your B2B course!
Hi @Jeanette ,
That’s very kind, that you are interested in my personal Bob Ross style paitings in oils. I try to upload some of my paintings from my mobile. I hope, you like them…
Enjoy
Alex
Very nice, @Alex_G . . .
Cheers
Joe
Wow Alex, you’re very talented!
