Plugins I Have Known And Loved

Give Phase Plant a try

I know. I mean, I own SVT-VR. It’s good. But they probably won’t be able to continue claiming to be the official Ampeg SVT plugin.

I trialed it, I have their Toolbox, but for me it’s Voltage Modular for this kind of synthetizer. I like the UX of VM over Phase plant but other than that I can’t say anything bad about Phase plant.

yeah VM looks really good too. And lots of folks like Massive.

Massive is so well thought out in the sense how it’s laid out in front of you and it has the right amount of possibilities, but not too much. I used to warez it so I used it right from the begining and I love that synth. There’s new Massive X, but I don’t use it nearly as much as the first Massive.

NI makes great, great stuff. I might have a deal on Massive sitting around, I should check.

I feel like I should try Omnisphere at some point, but really, I am super happy with Phase Plant. I actually really like its UI - it really comes into its own when building patches from scratch.

I’m a couple hundred bucks into Kilohearts at this point too, I ended up buying rather than subbing, all at the minimal sale prices of course so it didn’t hurt too bad. I think Ultimate ended up costing me around $200 total due to sales and upgrades. Which feels like about the right price for getting all of their stuff.

Maybe this is old news to you plugin-heads… if not, here you are:

Kilohearts also having a sale right now.

I love what Nembrini does almost every time.

With the plugins having become so good, I’m starting to become interested in a pedal that can run any of them. I think Ampeg releasing a branded SVT plugin may have put me over the edge.

TH-U | Overloud … I recently bought this.

I also have Amplitube and Guitar Rig, but this one sounds by far the best.

Now that is a fantastic idea. Just buy that and Helix Native to start

I actually usually use plugins that are focused on specific amps but usually have their own cab sim section to load impulse responses like Nembrini Audio, NeuralDSP & Aurora DSP.

I did demo some of Amplitube 4 and enjoyed it for what it was. I never really know where to start with these all in one guitar/bass suites to be honest with you because there are so many similar ones out on the market today.

Yeah I am the same way, I prefer using discrete amp sims, cab sims, and effects over all-in-ones.

Not that I would turn down a free copy of Helix Native of course.

Haha, I wouldn’t turn down a free or frugal copy of any of them tbh. They should have more than just a student discount.

They should also have a “Eat Ramen, Buy Plugins or Die Trying” payment plan for those more poor than college students, we ain’t lying.

There is, actually, for a whole lot of them.

Lots of good big-name stuff in there. often like $10/month.

Kilohearts offers all of their stuff (all of it) for that too, on their site.

Not rent to own there, just rent, but for every year you do it they kick back $100 in credit, so it’s effectively the same thing.

I looked it up. It’s pretty pricey for a shell.

It’s great that Splice & Kilohearts have subscriptions. Although I think I probably mostly got what I wanted from my Splice sub.

The rent to own plugin plan didn’t work out for me sadly, they didn’t have the latest version of a plugin I put on a plan so I just kept the sample pack sub. But I’m thinking of cutting mine out. At least for a while.
