It’s kind of funny. I was going to play Devil’s Advocate and list some songs I thought had good basslines where the bassist just follows along and “plays few notes”…
but I’m kinda drawing a blank here. At least for music I like.
The closest is probably in funk, where you can be effective that way more easily.
She is not my style of music but I am a big fan of her talent.
As far as the discussion, I agree and disagree with what everyone is saying. A bass player is an artist, and needs to find their voice and express it. It can be minimalist like a James Jamerson, it can be up front like Peter Hook. The important thing is it’s their voice. It would be very boring if we all played the same style.
And I hope to get a song recorded to bring this thread back on track tomorrow.

Not a Christmas cover, but it was for a Christmas collaboration on guitar and I’m wearing a Christmas hat and t-shirt 
The guy who’s channel it’s for is due to put the collaboration together very soon (he said before Christmas and he’s in the UK). This is the 3rd time I’ve joined in now. He puts out a backing track and invites people to record a short video and then he puts them all together. I’m concentrating too much to smile, hoping to feel more relaxed in the future so I can actually smile as I really did enjoy it

I was hoping to post another Christmas cover song I’ve been working on it for a few weeks but it’s not really ready for showtime just yet, oh well may be next year, lol. My girlfriend played an awesome version of it( that’s what my wife said “watching your girlfriend again?”lol. I know Ida Nielsen have an open relationship I’m allowed to see other player, lol. Merry Christmas. I’m hoping to post another cover today, it’s not Christmas but definitely fitting to today’s time.
