Post your covers! (2019-2022)

Loved it @howard, fantastic playing and bass tone. That SBV has some thump.

Enjoyed that @howard apart from the great bass playing, the production values are really great in this. I think I’ve got albums that are mixed way worse than this. Nice work!

Second 50’s song for today. Fats Domino - Ain’t that a shame (1955). Twelve bar blues in B.

Edit: The original recording is a little flat. So I set my tuner to 430Hz and down tuned everything using that as a guide. So if you want to play along just be aware of the lowered tuning.

Both were excellent all around.

I had to Google what that was. I’ve learnt / learned so much from this forum!

Thanks everyone! These covers are great production practice for sure.

I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know that was originally Fats Domino. Well played and as always the P is the perfect tone for it

More nice work from the mid-50’s. Love the P with the tone rolled off like that. Pretty much the perfect tone for the song.

Your timing is spot on here and in the Fats Domino cover. That’s a nice tempo to keep up and you nailed it.

Very nice tone and timing Barney. Something so cool and pure about this era of rock and roll.

Oh! Good to know, I happened to have my bass in hand while listening and couldn’t find the root note to save my life. Nice job matching it.

I have no idea if the HX Stomp emulation is like the real thing. But it works for me at a fraction of the price.

That and the 1176 are the beloved classics for sure.

fair enough

obviously no emulation is 100% correct but that’s not really what we’re looking for. we use emulations that are greatly inspired by hardware gear like the LA-2A, but what we want is that it sounds good, or at least that it sounds like we expect to sound.

we should not search for a 100% exact emulation, we should just search for something that sounds how we want, considering it’s inspired by knowed hardware gear.

Totally. Like, I love the sound of the SVT, and I have the ā€œofficialā€ SVT amp sim, but I use Kuassa Cerberus instead because I like its SVT-like tube amp emulation better with it. Not because it’s closer, but because I like it more.

same with me, I’m stick with my older Bass POD Pro and its emulations of the SVT-VR and the LA-2A, because those models sounds exactly how I want them to sound. I don’t care if it’s 100% realistic, I just want it to sound good.
