Loved it @howard, fantastic playing and bass tone. That SBV has some thump.
Enjoyed that @howard apart from the great bass playing, the production values are really great in this. I think Iāve got albums that are mixed way worse than this. Nice work!
Big Joe Turner - Shake, Rattle and Roll (1954). Twelve bar blues in E flat.

that sounds real good
Second 50ās song for today. Fats Domino - Aināt that a shame (1955). Twelve bar blues in B.
Edit: The original recording is a little flat. So I set my tuner to 430Hz and down tuned everything using that as a guide. So if you want to play along just be aware of the lowered tuning.

Twice as nice @Barney !
Both were excellent all around.
Now, where did I put my poodle skirt?
I had to Google what that was. Iāve learnt / learned so much from this forum!
Thanks everyone! These covers are great production practice for sure.
Iām embarrassed that I didnāt know that was originally Fats Domino. Well played and as always the P is the perfect tone for it
More nice work from the mid-50ās. Love the P with the tone rolled off like that. Pretty much the perfect tone for the song.
Your timing is spot on here and in the Fats Domino cover. Thatās a nice tempo to keep up and you nailed it.
Another great cover @howard ! As always the mixing is superb.
Very nicely done on both covers @Barney ! Canāt go wrong with 12 bar blues.
Very nice tone and timing Barney. Something so cool and pure about this era of rock and roll.
Oh! Good to know, I happened to have my bass in hand while listening and couldnāt find the root note to save my life. Nice job matching it.
Wrapping up my 50ās weekend with this. Buddy Holly and The Crickets - Thatāll be the day (1957).

yes.
I have no idea if the HX Stomp emulation is like the real thing. But it works for me at a fraction of the price.
That and the 1176 are the beloved classics for sure.

it works for me
fair enough
obviously no emulation is 100% correct but thatās not really what weāre looking for. we use emulations that are greatly inspired by hardware gear like the LA-2A, but what we want is that it sounds good, or at least that it sounds like we expect to sound.
we should not search for a 100% exact emulation, we should just search for something that sounds how we want, considering itās inspired by knowed hardware gear.

Totally. Like, I love the sound of the SVT, and I have the āofficialā SVT amp sim, but I use Kuassa Cerberus instead because I like its SVT-like tube amp emulation better with it. Not because itās closer, but because I like it more.
same with me, Iām stick with my older Bass POD Pro and its emulations of the SVT-VR and the LA-2A, because those models sounds exactly how I want them to sound. I donāt care if itās 100% realistic, I just want it to sound good.
