50 Songs Challenge Song no. 27: The Knack - My Sharona

I’m thinking this might be the longest song on the list so far! Somebody might have to check my math there… It certainly takes some endurance to get through that bridge. What a finger workout!

Went passive on the JINO bass for this one with the Cali76 comp pedal and the Darkglass head as usual. Here is some deeper info:

Using Cali76 Compressor with Dry, In, and Out at 50%
Ratio at 40%, Att/Rel at 50% and HPF at 65%

Plugged into Darkglass Microtubes 500v2 with Microtubes Mode active -
Tone at 100% - Blend at 50%

XLR Out to Volt 276. Comp OFF. Vintage OFF. Gain 55%.

Recorded with Garageband and OBS. Finished with iMovie. Thanks for watching!

You had me at my Sharona. I’m a fan of the Monk’s series.

Great cover @cheeze_pizza the groove is solid and the solo is definitely fun you deliver a gig ready performance. That’s awesome performance.

Excellent cover! Nice upbeat tune to pick things up on a cold rainy weekend where I’m at.

I think you’re right, Floyd’s Money is the longest one overall by my count, but don’t think you got to that one yet.

Thanks so much @John_E !!!

This message really came at the perfect time… It’s been a insanely busy work week and I haven’t had great success with London Calling yet. Those triplets man… Anyways, after reading this I shelved that song and started some Otherside. Just a few takes in and it’s going much better!

Thanks again for providing a little pep for my step today.

Definitely! Sometimes when I finish the audio recording and review the video I just have to giggle a bit. I always want to look like I’m in the groove but that doesn’t always happen…

Thanks for checking it out Jerry!

Aloha BassBuzzers…
This started out as a collaboration with a co-worker that was trying to learn the Ukelele. We said we going to learn this and record it. Anyway, he never got around to learning it. The original recording of this song had no bass line. It is just vocal and ukelele. I added a simple root/fifth line and used my Kala U-Bass. I hope you enjoy it!
Mahalo!

Great job @JerryP
I like the irony of doing this in Jersey vs. Hawaii - lol
Nice pineapple too.

I really like those root/fifth lines. Simple but efficient, and you can always add some variations and refinement here and there.

Merci Laurent!

I didn’t want to over do anything on this song. Iz (Israel) is a very beloved islander and I didn’t want to disrespect him or his work.
